It was looking at the BA LBA-LHR-LAS that started me on the Avios scheme. However, on the dates I looked at it is LBA-LHR 9:20 – 10.35 and LHR-LAS 15:50 – 18:30. I am not one for a 5 hour and 15 minute wait at LHR, and 2 connections is not for me.

I wouldn't book anything less than 1 hr 30 min connection time. Remember if you fly business class you get access to the British Airways Galleries Lounge, a nice way to start your holiday.

Alternatively catch a train from Leeds to London.

But not that nice for 5hrs TBHO:cool:
  • Thanks for the information on headforpoints. I will have a good read later, but have signed up for their emails in the meantime.

5 hours waiting, followed by a long flight, is just too much for me. We normally get the train to Manchester and spend the night before in Radisson. In theory, this is longer than 5 hours, but it is a really relaxing start to the holiday.

A 5 hour layover just seems too long to me, especially when other alternatives are available.

Regarding getting off, collecting luggage etc I agree that these things seem to take longer than they should. However, there is nothing that you can do about it. I think you need to simply adjust your mind set. No point starting the holiday all wound up. Namaste

I'd heard about using melatonin to help with jetlag. Did it help, you have to get it over there is that right?

I haven't seen it over here - I have been meaning to get some on the recommendation of a few here. It's been on the mental list for a few years, but I kept forgetting. I do think it has helped me get back into a normal sleep routine more quickly.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

It's a hormone of some description. Illegal in the UK as far as I know. It works a bit for us, but timewise we get so acclimatised over our 6 week holidays it's no wonder we have a bit of bother with jet lag.

For those of us in the regions the BA sale running to 12th July (and which saw some more price drops yesterday) is looking attractive.
And it's CHEAPER to start from a regional airport than it is from LHR.

I've been keeping an eye out for a couple of months for Feb as we are going to surprise my sister and twin nieces by turning up at their cheer competition (they live in Calgary and won some comp or other to qualify).

    15th -24th was just under £600 from LHR. From NCL it's £455.
I've coupled that with the current part pay with avios (30,000 for £300 off) which made our total £305 pp and then upgraded the inbound flights to PE for £75 each.

No need for the usual jaunt to DUB!!!
