what, now? I need to look into this!Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
Car hire - someone recommended rentalcars.com on here in the past and Ive used them in the past. i think they have 5% quidco just now as well.
Last year we rented from Alamo and collected at the airport on arrival. I find it a bit of a faff if I have to go back to the airport partway through the trip though, so I usually book through rentalcars and collect at Dollar in TI.
we really like picking up at Dollar at TI, too...but the cars have been awful lately for us...so old and not comfortable. When we have rented from Alamo the cars have been almost brand new, so much nicer, but the slog of picking up the car and getting to the hotel and all that is just annoying now I'm used to jumping in a taxi.
So now we're deciding based on what we expect to do our first day - if having the car whatever stupid time I wake up makes sense (it will in November) - Alamo...if picking up the car early afternoon on our first full day suits, then Dollar. I really like the people at the Dollar counter - that woman with the amazing hair is really lovely. But the cars aren't great, or maybe we have just had bad luck.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
As said so often, it's totally horses for courses
I'm 6'2" so economy seat pitches are never going to be luxuriousBut for me it's a means to end, and I'd rather spend the extra £3-400 we'd save, in Vegas or on a room upgrade for the week
But of course if there was a good deal for a PE upgrade, or we could use our miles, then I'd consider it. Loves a bargain!0 -
Would love to upgrade to PE on Virgin...
Had the option to do so for $315 each when we were flying back...
But the winnings I was gonna use for the upgrade is in the MGM's bank!
1 day, we'll get PE!0 -

that's awful...4 days. What a way to spend so much of his holiday.
I picked up something nasty once, but I was at least able to leave the room the following day, even though I couldn't eat anything but sweet stuff the rest of the trip and the pictures of steaks in our hotel lift made me queasy for the duration.
To this day, I wonder if I didn't pick up something from a slot machine. At the time I was still in my Carmex tub phase and realised that several times a day I probably used the same hand I'd been spinning the reels with to apply lip stuff without even thinking.
We're just back from Chicago and while I was good in managing to stay up most of the time when we got home, I finally bought some melatonin tablets this trip, and I do think they really help. If I admitted that I bought a sealed bottle (expiry late 2017) at a yard sale for $0.75, I am not sure if that would make me frugal or stupid, but it seems to have worked out OK.
Hiya Ferf,
Yeah, he was pretty gutted. Although, tbh, sometimes he is his own worst enemy, because after the 1st day, he said he felt ok and was hungry, and I asked him not to go daft and take it easy. Course, he didn't and had a big Chinese dinner from the food court and was ok for about an hour before he went back to square one (the lav) He's a stubborn as a mule sometimes and I did get a bit annoyed with him for being daft. I ended up getting him a bit of toast to line his stomach the next morning, but it was like rubber.
Anyway, I can't help but wonder if it was the bottle of beer that did it, as he did say that it did taste really funny. When it came to the slots, I was carrying a bottle of alcohol gel with me, so we were cleaning our hands every so often. It could have been anything though. I'll admit that I was a bit paranoid about getting it myself, but came away unscathed.
That stuff from Walgreens helped, but those I asked for advice were a bit abrupt with me, perhaps it was because I was asking for help and not paying for advice lol.
Still towing a bit with the jetlag, time difference, etc. But it always takes me about 4/5 days to get back to normal. I have to admit that I hate coming back to reality as well. Feeling a bit down atm. Never mind, I'll get over it.BEST EVER WINS WON IN ORDER (so far) = Sony Camcorder, 32" lcd telly, micro ipod hifi, Ipod Nano, Playstation 3, Andrex Jackpup, Holiday to USA, nintendo wii, Liverpool vs Everton tickets, £250 Reward Your thirst, £500 Pepsi, p&o rotterdam trip, perfume hamper, Dr Who stamp set, steam cleaner.

I'd heard about using melatonin to help with jetlag. Did it help, you have to get it over there is that right?0 -

1 day, we'll get PE!
For our last trip, we flew PE in the bubble. On the way back, we were pleased as we were in the back row, and across the aisle and the row in front of that were empty. Right before take off, four extremely loud Scousers got on and sat in those rows. One of them said to her friend "See? I told you it would be worth the extra £50(!!) each!" Then they proceeded to ruin the flight for everyone else for the next 10 hours...
But it just goes to show there are some real bargains to be had if the cabin isn't full. I've been offered upgrades at check-in from PE to UC, but they still wanted over £1000 each to do it.Egg Loan - [strike]£4921.84[/strike] £0!! :j Barclaycard - £3866.47 Legal + Trade - [strike]£2700.96[/strike] £0!! :j Triton - [strike]£1730.89[/strike] £0!! :j Next - [STRIKE]£776.15[/STRIKE] £126.88 Littlewoods - [strike]£217.16[/strike] £0!! :j Housemate - [strike]£1300[/strike] £0!! :j Capital One - [STRIKE]£1652.51[/STRIKE] £1,081.58 Vanquis - [strike]£2337.75[/strike] £375.58

I think luckily for us we have not had people ruin the flight for everyone in that sense you did !( fingers crossed)
waiting , for me, is one of the worst things about going to vegas, esp a 10hour or so flight.just after 6-7 hours I get crabby and annoyed and when we land it seems to take an age to get to the gate, and then people (it seems to me anyhow) seem to take an age to get there hand luaguge, get off and then the waiting for our bags,
Glad to know there are some bargins to be had and will be hoping they pop up somehow and grab my attention /appeal to me really ,fingers crossed0
