It is a Stratstone Jaguar Dealer, but perhaps they have run if through BMW prior to selling, if they have approved it, and offer 12 month warranty, but again I don't know how they work personally.
It is just a shame they won't move it 88 miles further north to my nearest dealer, I don't fancy a 2 hour drive each way, or longer if traffic is a nightmare, Yes it's a day out, but with daylight hours being very short and cold outside I don't have the patience really.
I do believe they offer the best warranty system out there. But only til about 100k miles is it?0 -

Stratstone are a huge company and many of them are actual BMW dealerships.
If it has a full BMW service history (which it should) and you maintain that, it will be eligible for extended warranty after the one year is up. The stamps in the book are crucial.
As long as the mileage is under 100K at the time you start the warranty it can continue well past 100K without any increase in the premiums.0 -

Well realistically, you are going to have to let this one go, have you offered to pay for the delivery for you to view it?
Perhaps the sales rep is getting a vibe of timewasting and hence the reluctance to have the car transported , thanks to credit then someone will come along and buy it, whilst you are deliberating on it.
Depert 0900 arrive 1130 allows for traffic
1200-1300 view car
1400-1500 lunch
1500-1730 return home (less your deposit )0 -
When conversing via Email and Phone, the only deal the Sales Man would come up with, is if I was definitely going to buy he would bring it up North. He said it is not of Stratstone policy to transfer cars between dealers. When I explained Evans Halshaw have the option of Move Me Closer, E H is a connection to Stratstone (Pendragon Group?) they will transport cars between Showrooms for a refundable fee if the Car is not right, or deduct it from the sticker price if the deal can go ahead.
I will try and get on to Head Office and see what they can come up with.0 -
There is one BMW that is a 200 mile round trip away, but the Stratstone it is located at are reluctant to fetch it to my local Stratstone dealer...
Have you asked your local Stratstone dealer to source the car or just asked the current dealer whether they can transfer it ?
Assuming you're in a position to purchase I'd be befriending a salesman at your local BMW dealers (assuming they're in different holding groups) and putting pressure on them to find you a car0 -
I could go over to Stratstone Bolton Porsche and see what they can do with regards to a transfer of stock, but yes I have asked the Statstone Jaguar Dealer to move it closer quite a few times to no avail, only if I was going to definitely buy it, he'd drive it up here and use their Showroom to complete the deal. Other than that his only options he put towards me, I drive to his Showroom at 2 or so hours each way, or get the Train and he picks me up from the Station, but that is 6 hours each way.
I am in a position to buy. Maybe he just can't be bothered because of the time of year, he may think I am not genuine, even though I came across as I am genuine, or he knows he can sell it from his location.
I just don't know.
If I lose out I am sure there will be others closer to me eventually.0 -

That is the usual line nowadays, a cooleague wanted an IS250, they wouldn't transfer unless it was a definite buy and he still had to pay, I don't know why you are reluctant to drive to view it? 2 hours drive for 88 miles, you want to try Birmingham to barrow in Furness, only to find the car is not suitable
If you are sure there will be others closer to you then all you can do is keep waiting, but I'm sure BMW's were advertised of the drive of your life at one stage, so the 88 miles return trip should be an incentive to go for it rather than dream/talk about it.
You have to understand the salesperson is not desperate for your money whilst £10k is a lot of money, it's not a lot of money .0 -
I can see why stratstone are reluctant to move it, if the dealerships are connected then they will share stock and move it around but it is unlikely that they will move a car from a jaguar main dealer over to a porsche dealer and chances are the porsche dealer would not be interested in the deal any way
if you are in bolton go over to williams BMW and have a word with the salesman there and see if he can get a car he may not have one onsite but will have access to other williams BMW stock
You don't seem keen to travel so you are severely limiting your choice and are coming up with reasons why it is not practical for you to travel 80 miles to see the car so if the dealer is getting the same vibe i can see why he is not keen to help
I always buy my cars from dealers miles from me as we don't have the choice in rural mid wales so you have to travel to get the car you want
in the past i have driven from mid wales over to derby sealed the deal then get a train back a few days later to collect the car0 -

I agree that the dealer is probably picking up the vibe of timewasting, that's the vibe I'm picking up from reading the thread, my current car I had to pick up from Merthyr Tyfdil from Bham, was happy to get the train the dealer offered to pick me up from Cardiff, brother fancied a drive so drove me down, only a few weeks ago we went to pontypool to pick up a corsa, in fact thinking about it, of all the cars I have purchased , very few have been local.0 -
I have also bought sight unseen in the past again from a ford main dealer in derby
I rang the salesman and he sent me a link to a walk around video which i looked at then rang the guy back, the car was two years old and he said it was near mint so i did the deal over the phone
the dealer was that confident in the car that he said if i didn't like it when i saw it he would give me all my money back and pay my train fare as well
I arrived at derby station and as the dealer was only a short walk from the station i decided to walk to the dealer, the car was mint i drove it home and kept the car for five years and never had any issues with it
for me now we have access to the internet gone are days of buying from a local dealers0
