For 7-10,000 miles a year a diesel isn't worth considering.

The back seats in the 1 series merely fill the space behind the front seats, on the coupe its even worse, so no one will thank you if you try and make them sit in them so you'll never use them.

A petrol Z4 makes more sense!

From 2010-2013 I had a 2007 Ford Focus 2.0 Petrol. It did 28mpg or 30mpg on a good day. Got bored of filling it up every other week I do miss the way it handled, for a big heavy thing, it handled and cornered so well!

I know driving a Diesel round town, and doing short mileages can kill them, but my current 55mpg from the 1.5 DCi Clio spoils me, I'm just bored of it, I don't get any enjoyment whatsoever from driving it, it is absolutely dull and uninspiring.

If you have driven a 6 cylinder BMW and a four pot the no explanation should be needed.

From a character point of view the four pot has none.

A bit like comparing a Boxer lump with unequal length manifolds and a Lancer four pot.

    One has character.

I am fairly certain that Nissan (and others probably) believe a straight six is one of the best balanced engines.

I don't know if the character of a six cylinder BMW versus the drone like character of an four pot comes across in Forza though.

I have owned a brand new WRX, brand new Seat Toledo, BMW 635CSi, Rover 820 Vitesse, GSX R 750, GT 550, CBR 600, Renault 5 GT Turbo, Jaguar XJL, Granada Scorpio, Subaru Legacy, V50, 520i, Nissan Pathfinder etc etc.

    Now I have a Berlingo.

    Life is life

You have ups and you have downs

But exaggerating and living in a Walter Mitty existence is what makes people laugh.

In a year or so when the money I have invested in a business pays out I will buy a better car.

But what I drive doesn't define me.

I rather like fast French tin and would have one again, can't say that I have found any of my French cars to be less reliable than anything else.

I might import a JDM spec Subaru, maybe a 2004 onwards Legacy or Outback.

Will having a nicer car improve my health or improve my position is society?0

Will it get me any friends?

    No.
