I take your point, but I wasn't specifically meaning the OP in this thread who does indeed seem to be a bit of a dreamer and not really motivated to get off his *** and go seek out a new car.0

Yes, and money saving can equally apply to getting the best deals on on new or nearly new cars as it does with older ones.0

88 miles is too far to go to buy a 1 series IMO.
There are loads on the market, just wait for the right one to come up closer.
As for those who think spending £10k on a BMW is too much and the OP has no right to ask the question on here because this is a money saving site, feel free to cancel your broadband connection because, after all, that would save you money...wouldn't it?0 -
Im no expert but arent 1 series Beemers bad news with regard to timing chains and tensioners?Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

Stratstone is the upmarket arm of Evans Halshaw so I'd avoid like the plague.
As for why these so many of these so called premium cars are nails, they'll have been owned by kids on some finance deal, never serviced, looked after and just ragged to death.0 -
The N47 4 cylinder 2 litre diesel engine is the suspect.
It was BMW's most common engine - used across the whole range of vehicles.
Fixed as well as it'll ever be in the last update in March 2011.
Now superseded with the B47 engine.
Anyone with an early N47 has no worries at all if they have either a BMW AUC Warranty or a BMW Extended Warranty.
It certainly shouldn't put anyone off buying an N47 engined car from a BMW dealer - with the above warranties.0 -
Money saving expert was always about getting what you wanted for as cheap as possible not doing everything on the cheap and living like a pauper!
If I can't get my lease hire car for a decent price at the end of the contract a 1 series coupe is one of my choices.0 -
Why am I a dreamer when I am not willing to travel? Perhaps with the run up to Xmas my workload may not allow?
I am either thinking the sales rep could be lazy, or thinking of pound signs, and his commission or lack of it, if he moves the Car closer.
With regards to mileage yes I am probably not doing enough per month to warrant one, however with my current car anywhere between 650-1000 miles per month.
I don't really fancy the idea of a 125i
More reliable it may be, but it would be a serious gas guzzler and likely too tail happy.0 -
I told the guy straight due to workloads at this end of the year. But did however state this is the right colour, and specification car for me.
He has now come up with a solution to the problem, bringing it up North for a £1,000 deposit if my Car is as described and their 1 series is...0 -
Saving money doesn't just mean driving a banger and spending nothing on it.
There is nothing wrong with buying a nicer car and trying to do so as economically as possible.
The entire forum doesn't need to drive an 8yr old Mondeo!
Besides if we did it would push the prices up.....0
