NSD today but did go through some old paperwork as part of my new year clear out and found lots of old supermarket receipts. A year ago I was spending £75-85 per week on groceries. Now on a "big" shop week I spend about £55 and others weeks less. We are still eating well, plenty of fruit, veg and some meat. However my nice etc are now stretched with extra veg and I am definitely making more from scratch. Big thanks to all on here for ideas and tips. They are working for me.
    Thoughts to all. Mrs D.

  • Good evening fellow money savers :) Had my first spend of the year last night at Mozza's which came to £15.03 and included some reduced limes (I use them a lot in my nutribullet) milk for DD, a mixed bean casserole pack ( have done some batch cooking of Quorn Mince, lentil and bean casserole for the week) and fruit and veg top up. Stuck to my list and everything :D this group is amazing, it's helping me and others so much

£2.39 spent in the local supermarket on 2 tins of beans and a box of washing powder as needed some urgently and the big supers were all closed. I couldn't believe the price they were asking for a ten wash box of branded powder or tabs, I opted for the own brand one, I gave it a sniff and it smelt nice so that was that ;)

I have decided to deduct the £20 is pent on cleaning materials specifically for preparing the house for sale as I would not have spent this normally and have now set aside a small amount of money to cover all the bits like a lampshade, jeyes fluid etc. I bought today.

My adjusted total now stands at £151.67 laving me £98.33 for 2 week ends shopping which is doable with some planning.

    Evening all :)

Weekend didn't quite go to plan (which is starting to become almost normal!)

Ate out more than planned, took out more than planned, however, also did fit in buying seville oranges for £1.65 and sugar for 50p, and with lemons and sugar already in the cupboard made 9 jars of marmalade, so that ought to keep us sorted for this year!!

Popped to the SM for the weekly shop, not many YS items around. I'm new to the area and still trying to work out which day / time is the best ... Sunday afternoon is obviously not it ! Apart from bread. Monday evenings so far seem to be better. So, will try again either tomorrow or next Monday!

    Signature updated.
