  • Spent a huge £66.23 today in Aldi but that should allow me to make enough to main meals to last the next two weeks plus lunches for this week. Fingers crossed we'll be able to stick to our budget this month :)

  • Had $8.96 in petrol vouchers for local store ( buy petrol there and get a % back to use in supermarket)
Bought basics- some eggs, bananas, carrots, turnip, butter, milk, tinned kidney beans, potatoes it cost me $11.55 after the voucher. Hoping this will see us through the week with other foods we already have.

Weekly shop done, stuck to my list and also spent £2 on two massive punnets of strawberries from the stall in the city centre.

Didn't end up buying DH the SW RM, will see what I can rustle up from the freezer. I have some w/m pittas, tuna and salad stuff so that will do for a couple of days. I also have a bag of butternut squash I will attempt to turn into a spicy soup.

I am for once keeping my freezer stock list up to date and it is definitely getting more spacious in there even with the new tub of ice cream I bought today.

Total now stands at £169.17 with £80.83 left to last me 2 weekly shops. I will need some dog food and soap powder next week which will use up a chunk of that.

We have put in an offer on a house today so we have renewed enthusiasm for saving and for eating up our stores so I am going to really work hard at staying within budget.

£5 spent today in the morrisons local shop on fish fingers, a big loaf and some treats - there are days when you just have to have fish finger sandwiches :)
Have done a small list for tomorrow - really don't need very much so will try to keep the spends right down with a whizz round aldi for a change and pop in to B&M next door for dog food and chews and some cans of coke for work.
  • OMG I have spent way too much on y's items this week - too much of a bargain to resist - will update totals tomorrow but way over budget !!!
I did manage to get 5 big fillet steaks tonight for 55 pence each, 2 small pieces of cod loin - 55 pence, loads of Mr m's pie's from the hot counter (about 12) all 9 pence each to give to DD, 2 packs of chicken drumsticks for the dogs 25 pence each, and joints of stuffed belly port for 55 pence each.
Then I had to go to Mr T's for chick wings for dogs (not in budget grocery budget, as I won't compromise their food) and bought 3 pack of grapes for 2 pence each, 10 packs of savoury sausage meat/egg thingies for 2 pence each but I bought a bottle of wine - oops
On Thursday I spent £82.50 on shopping for DD and grandkids, so won't include in budget as she is struggling at the minute and needs a bit of help
I also spent a bit on y/s for myself - mainly steaks at 99 pence each and loads of cooked meat @ 25 pence a bag - approx 6 oz in each bag which I have frozen in sealy sucky bags. I useually use the beef, pork, chicken and turkey for roast dinners warmed up in gravy after defrosting and the ham for sarnies and dog treats.
I dehydrated a joint of beef this week (was 55 pence y/s) in slices to make beef jerky for dog treats - they love it. It made a huge bag that will last for at least 3 weeks.
Oh well, will have to stop spending on y/s but find it difficult to resist a bargain !!! Freezers are jammed again so need to make a dent in them next week !!!

£56.31 spent, stocked up on lunches for dh and more staples after going through cupboards and meal planning. Baked the first loaf in the new bread maker today - so tasty, will be making it every day from now on :D We all have a sweet tooth and are feeling a bit deprived of sugar, trying really hard not to buy all the usual rubbish we have been buying. What I would do for a crunchie right now :rotfl:
