Done my first big shop since Christmas in Ald! Spent £55. Not bad all things considered. Every other day this week has been a NSD. I bought lots of veg and plan a few meat free meals this week. DS will have something to say about that but can get his own meat snacks if he wants extra. Also few extras to take to work so I can be more organised with my packed lunches.
    Thoughts to all. Mrs D.

  • Another no spend day for me!

I am finding I'm throwing less food out because I'm buying less and actually eating what I buy.

Not stuck to my meal plan strictly but not spent anymore money on the food budget since the 3rd and we've had 7 NSDs so far! My NSD are only days that I don't buy anything from the food budget, the baby and the cats, the car all have their own separate budgets.

I don't include takeaways in this as every month we put money aside for bills and savings and we leave a bit for to spend on whatever we want, we call it our pocket money and if we want a takeaway we have to take it out of our own spends! I've had two takeaways this month, one I paid for out of the £20 I got for babysitting last minute a friends little boy and another tonight paid for out of my 'pocket money' because I passed my course and it also looks like I might have a fulltime job!

OH has been doing overtime at a local primary school as a catering assistant. Wednesday he brought home 1.5kg of cooked mince, yesterday was around 15 sausages and he's just messaged me saying he has a huge box of fish fingers. Today he actually brought a tub from home to work to collect food, well at least he's on board with not spending as much money!

I've made 5 portions of Bolognese so far and have no clue what I want to do with the rest of the mince so chucking it in the freezer. Sausages I had no clue yet and as for the fish fingers OH can just snack on them as I don't like them at all!

We are still sitting at £42.48/£60 but will have to spend money tomorrow as we have one roll of toilet paper left!

Popping in to update my spends. Finding being on a budget / diet / vegetarian (fussy) more difficult than I thought!

Running out of butter & toilet rolls in week 1 hasn't helped either. Thought I'd try Quorn products as they agree with the eating plan I'm following, not so much the purse! When you're used to not buying meat, this is a surprise I didn't need. Turns out some of things I bought aren't so diet friendly either! Still, they won't he wasted.

Gots lots of meals planned for the next week so not too worried about being 1/3 of the way through my budget on day 7.

Going back to catch up on the rest of the thread for some ideas & inspiration
My name is CherryPie and I'm addicted to grocery shopping!!

Holding fast with the meal plan. NSD 8/8 :T
  • Went to Aldeees to pick up nappies, come out with just nappies.... Miracle :D £5.99 added to my total x

    February GC £26.68/£250

  • First week in for me and so far so good. We haven't had a takeway for 2 months now and I want to keep that up. I need to get a few bits tomorrow - margarine, toilet rolls and onions but other than that I have full cupboards and freezer so should spend less this week.
