Just shopped for the first time this year and added some stock items that were on offer. I have split up and portioned the chicken thighs so that we don't pig out (another story), freezing the surplus and have defrosted one of my homemade turkey and sweetcorn pies ready for tonight's easy meal. Just bread to bake now, and a bit of repeat vacuuming to get the rest of those pesky Christmas tree needles out of the carpet, and then my chores are done for the weekend.

I might get my sewing machine out and make a couple of hot water bottle covers from the old cashmere cardigan with a massive hole in the elbow, now it is clean and a bit felted (deliberately washed one setting too warm so it will not unravel and fray when I cut it).

I spent a total of £55 but have plenty of food and store cupboard ingredients for the next week and a half, with the exception of dairy items I shall need.

You all sound very focussed, keep it up everyone - well done and keep the faith. My spend used to be 3 times bigger than it is now - the methods on here really do work

Over spent this week. I have a friend coming over tonight, and just found out they are eating with me, so on the way home from work I succumbed to a meal deal from MR T. So I spent £10, unplanned.
And I think I only had about £2.44 of the proposed budget for this week left. So next weeks budget will be reduced if at all possible. Although I do have a £15 entertainment budget I can use if needed.
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.

Maybe you could buy a different one each week but keep the recipe and note the ingredients on the back of it. That way you would build up a repertoire of those meals and be able to recreate them, and maybe be able to tweak them to include different ingredients for a change ;)

Having another NSD here today but will have to get weekly F & V, milk and pack-up stuff the morrow.

I've pulled a pack of smoked salmon off-cuts (£1.99 Morrys) out of the freezer together with 1/2 tub of YS cheese sauce. I have a jar of artichoke hearts in stock and will make a kind of cheesy/wine sauce, chop up the salmon and artichokes and add some lemon and dill and have over tagliatelli with a sprinkle of parmesan.

Hope you all having a lovely weekend and staying warm and dry
