Sounds like a DNS problem then.
so how can i fix it?

I had a similar problem with a LYNKSYS router I had a couple of years ago, but got it to work eventually, and there was not a cable plugged in the back of my PC, but I can't remember how i did it now.

Seriously pi**ed off with this now, thought these things were supposed to be straight forward.

So are you saying that if you connect the cable modem directly to the PC you get internet but if you plug the modem into the router and then the router into the pc you don't?

If I connect the router to the modem AND the back of PC = NO internet

If I connect Modem to router ONLY = Internet ON

Now that it's nearly working have you tried the suggestion in post #8?

Have you tried entering the DNS settings into the router? Either your ISP's or OpenDNS.

You may not need to do this if you switch off both the modem and the router, then power up the modem and when the lights have settled after a couple of minutes, power up the router. It should then automatically get the necessary settings.

    OpenDNS info here
