ok i have meeting with santander this morning to set up account the 2 direct debits i need to set up

    Why a meeting?

You can set up some Direct debits online, some on the phone, some need a paper form.

can these be to the other accounts i plan to open lloyds and halifax ??

No. Direct debits pull money from your current account - typically to pay bills such as gas, electricity, phone, council tax etc

To send money from one current account to another, you use an online Faster Payment transfer, or Standing order for regular payments, both of which push money from one account to another

i only have 3 direct debits on my account so am possibly going to be struggling to set up these on my new accounts??

There is lots of information on the forum about direct debits. Have a read around.

what payment schedule do i need to set up here to qualify for the interest deadlines ??

That depends on the T&C of each account. Most, but not all, are based on a calendar month. What do the T&Cs of the accounts you are considering say?

More than that, Santander cannot set up any DDs for you. I suppose flopsy1973 knows that by now.
  • Hi
This might be a silly question but to set up a doner bank is this just a normal bank acc set up to use for switching purposes. As i want to open a FD acc for there regular saver but haven't any bank accounts i dont use. Also is there any particular ones to use.
    Thanks Richard w

  • Hi All
Im just running this past you lovely people just to see if im getting it right.
Ive come into £45000. I put 15240 into the best ISA i could find in short term so its not sat doing nothin while i set the accounts up.

I already had a TSB as a current acc so put 2K in that & opened a RS £250 monthly
    Ive opened
Flex direct with 2500K in process of doing RS £500 monthly
    Club lloyds with 5000K
    3xBOS with 5000K Each
1x tesco application in & will do another tomorrow

Have setup 2xDDs in club lloyds to Cancer research and standing orders between the rest.

Thinking of doing the 123 santander and putting 20k or what evers left in there & using it as my current account as ive probably almost got enough DDs to cover the fee..

Might do the FD for the RS but cant get the incentive
Im single so cant open more than one of these accounts.

Thats where i am at the minute. Im away for a week so that should give the time for the paperwork to catch up.

Also getting a bit worried about opening to many accounts at once.
Any input will be gratefully received

    Thanks Richard W:beer:

You can open 2x TSB accounts and shuffle the funding between them automatically.

Then you just need to log in and collect the interest.

The tesco instant access savings account can also be used for the dd pull.

Not as an individual you can't. You need someone to open a joint account with to get 2.

I am so annoyed with myself.. I cant for the life of me remember how to open up the classic plus without it asking me to set up an internet sign on..

I am already with TSB internet banking and I logged on the other day and applied to open one which all seemed to go through ok but then it asked me to create an internet account! but I was already on my internet account!

ok i have read lots on this forum this afternoon after earlier posts,i have decided against the santander account now ???
basically i have 30k which is in hsbc now with their regular saver maturing this month.
I plan to open TSB, BOS and nationwide now.
i have 4 direct debits on my account that i can transfer to another account so possibly lloyds ??
am thinking of switching to halifax to get the switching bonus too

What else can i do to maximise as the 30 k will still not be used and i what is the best way to set up the S/O to transfer all this money around anyone have a similar plan to follow ???

sorry for all the questions so much information on here and some of it conflicting and confusing or is there better way to do this than what i have planned above ???
    thanks
