Is it accompanied with a WhatsApp 'congrats' message too Esther than card?
Genuinely don't see what difference it makes how you pass the money across.0 -
Can't believe there is so much discussion about the inconvenience of paying a cheque in. Does nobody do what I do, and just post them to the bank?
I work full time and would find it very difficult to get to a bank during normal working hours. So posting them makes sense - it only costs a stamp!0 -
Our bank has a cheque deposit box which means the cheque is paid in when the bank opens. We got a lot of cheques for our wedding - very grateful for every single one.0

I'd much rather receive a bank transfer, than a cheque, as my local bank is miles away"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

I agree that cheques are a hassle if you work full time and don't have a branch near you, which is tge case fir a lot of us. However as a wedding gift the couple are going to get lots of cheques and cash so i'm sure they will be making a special trip to bank them all.Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0

Oh it's such a hassle to accept money as a cheque in my very busy and tiring week......
Get over it, you should be grateful that someone wishes you well and has thought to contribute to your lifestyle, sent with much better grace than some of you are willing to receive it.
Nobody has to visit a branch anymore, you can send by post (often freepost) or pay in at any bank or post office.0 -
How is payying in at a different bank any easier? Do people really not understand that some of us never go to a bank or post office? We don't all work part time hours with town-centre lunch breaks. Yes it could be posted but that's also more hassle. What's wrong with the money just appearing in your account, with no delay.0

Cos you're so busy working you'd never have time to spend it anyway! Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.
If you quote me, don't forget the capital 'M'

I agree with the anti-cheque posts!. Receiving a cheque is not a nice present, considering that where I live no local banks are open on a Saturday morning. Plus it takes days for the money to clear.
!.
Seriously? How ungrateful can you get? A cheque IS a very nice present IMO. Yes, a bank transfer might be easier for a lot of people who don't get into town often (myself included), but for some people a cheque is their prefered way of sending cash.
We got a lot of cheques for our wedding, mainly off older friends and relatives, as that's what they prefer and what they are used to sending. Yes, nowadays it perhaps isn't the most confident way of sending cash, but we were still grateful for each and every one.
It's someone sending you their hard earned cash, which you should accept with gratitude.0 -

Nothing, for some people it's easier for them, so they like to think it's somehow more thoughtful. But I can't see why it's more thoughtful.
It's nice to receive any gift, but thinking of it from the recipients perspective is the nicest gift of all. If someone prefers a cheque, fair enough, but most youngsters dont even write them themselves any more, and my bank don't even send them out as a matter of course.Never again will the wolf get so close to my door :eek:0
