Shiny 10p roadkill today - woo hoo!!
  • Thanks Aesop re: the £3k - it's a regular saver - it does it itself!

I do do SPC but kinda my own way...I can't wait a whole year to bag it up and I keep having to dip into it to pay the cleaer though. Might have a count up and empty the pot for January though.

I think for 2016 I might give myself an overall target of X and divy it up month by month. I wish Quidco would hurry on and sort my cashback from May, but hopefully that might be a nice start of Jan.

I agree about trying to encourage friends, they just don't seem interested and the ones with good jobs I can understand, good income time poor, but lots of my friends are mums who are forever saying they're skint and one of my friends sacrifices her heating so she can buy yarn. I can afford to do both and my income is miniscule compared to theirs.

Thanks Lynne - I won't have a birthing pool worth £100 to sell every month though ;)

  • I think with the size of the bay and the competition, you've got to keep looking for something which is "Niche" or else you have to sell for next to zero, so I continue to look for unusual bits and pieces which may be desireable to someone.

This was a small stone with quite a nice fossil showing well - so I thought "Well it's Xmas - someone must know somebody who would like it ....." ;) - and about £20 seemed to be the "About right" price to pay for a prezzy

SO true Procrastinater! I used to sculpt with driftwood as part of my business. I really don't have the time with the little ones right now but it was a fantastic source of FREE product and I soon realised that there were other crafters out there who would love to use that material but don't live anywhere near a beach etc. Now when I have time, I still pick up nice pieces if I'm walking the dogs, take it home to dry and clean up a bit, then sell it raw (either singularly if large and nice or in batches if smaller) to people keen to put their own stamp on it.

Same goes for tumbled beach glass and shells. It's really worth a shot if you can find something halfway interesting. One mans rubbish, etc...

  • So another £5 AGC from swag$ and another £10 AGC from an online discussion panel I got signed up to re: health monitors. I can't even remember how I ended up being a part of it to be honest...probably via a survey!! Still, £10 for two weeks worth of comments and opinions is quite nice.

Thanks to all those chatting about clixsense this week too. I've been trying to get used to the site for a few weeks now and finding it a bit of a drag to be honest. I'll keep plodding on a bit longer, but hearing those that a are a bit more au fait with it is helpful, so cheers :)

just got a call from the Tosco store. The driver should have informed her he was out of time but he didn't so she was unaware until he got back to the store and now there's no more slots, so the manager is going to come out in her own time after 10pm (if that's okay with me) and deliver it herself.

I always wonder what on earth people spend all their money on. I've always been the absolute poorest of anyone I know and yet I seem to have more money to do stuff.

"I wish I could afford to go to Barcelona for the weekend" ??? your income is literally double mine. You can. What are you doing with it? Burning it?

My ex flatmate was at the time on a salary of 24k (which is 10k more than me). The only base expense he had that I didn't was transport. Yet somehow he never had any spare cash.

Don't get me wrong I'm historically awful at budgeting and saving but apparently everyone else is worse at it :rotfl:

Ha ha, go for it Lexbubbles! Introduce them by name too - it'll make them more endearing :rotfl:

One of the best things I did this year was read the thread re: weirdest things you've ever sold on fleabay. It took me about a month to get through it all, but heck, I thought I was good at selling everything before. Now nothing, and I do mean nothing, leaves this house without at least one stint on auction. My family and friends are part incredulous, part in awe at what I've managed to shift :rotfl: They all donate their tat for me to sell now - WIN :D

Its on mse and well worth a look if you fancy some inspiration/laughs/encouragement. I'll try to find a link...
