Equifax won't know about Nationwide

I thought I'd put this up to help anyone else who banks with Nationwide Building Society.
I was doing my credit reports when I was told by both Equifax and Clearscore (did both for comparison) that there is insufficient information for them to generate a report.
This struck me as odd, because I've got a lot of different accounts with Nationwide (the ones they should know about being my current account and credit card).
Thankfully, Check My File provided me with the answer. For whatever reason, Equifax does not obtain information from Nationwide, which meant they only had a cancelled phone contract on me (we're private tenants and our landlord pays the bills apart from the Internet, which my boyfriend is paying).

My Nationwide current account shows on Equifax/Clearscore, so they do report some at least.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Weird, I had a flexaccount for nine years now, but Check My File said Equifax didn't have it...0

The current account may pre-date the time when most banks started routinely reporting current account data then. I can never remember the time frame for that, but for many accounts opened before that they are not reported unless you ask and give consent now.
There can be other causes, such a a slight mismatch in the personal/address details the bank reports the data under, resulting in the CRAs failing to link the data to your file.

This info is from Experian, but it applies generically in most parts to the other CRAs as well.

Maybe, I knew that not everyone gets information from the same place, but not the timeline that these companies work on.
I admit one year my family was in a rented property when they bought the house they are in now (I moved out last year) and was having it pretty much gutted out and refurbished. So some places may count the rented house and some don't.
I took out a CC with Nationwide recently, so maybe the advisor will be able to help me with that one. May be a month or two before that one gets spotted.0 -
My Nationwide account of some 40+ years doesn't appear on Noddle!0

My Nationwide current account, credit card, loan and mortgage all appear on ClearScore and Noddle. These were all opened in the last couple of years so I guess it's the age of yours, as others have mentioned.0

Wow! This is really helpful information!
I've been trying to work on my poor credit score for the past 6 years after a DRO. I only have a Nationwide account. I keep up with all my payments, I keep everything up to date, but apart from being on the electoral register, I only have a Nationwide account. Yet despite this, I am turned down from a basic mobile phone sim only contract, am turned down for basic credit cards, and am turned down from some broadband deals all due to my credit score.
I am now thinking the best way to improve my credit score isn't to live on credit cards (paying things off in full etc etc) but to just change my bank!0 -

Does it report to Experian or Call Credit (Noddle)?
If it does report to one of the CRAs, it may be wiser to open an additional current account rather than switch, purely as you've got evidence of a long standing relationship with Nationwide then.
Maybe carry on using it for your bills and use your new account for daily spends to keep it ticking over.
