Can I please be put down for £175000
-
Hi
Can you put me down for the £12k please?
As at today my total savings balance is £5,027.78 which comprises £3,727.78 in an instant access account, £300 in a FD Regular Saver opened in December and £1,000 in a Nationwide Regular Saver opened in December (£500 of which was added in December and £500 on 1st Jan, but was only a transfer from my instant access so isn't 'new' money).
My wife and I have agreed that we are saving this year (we spent a lot last year) and I think this will help us to maintain the discipline. I'm having £12k as my personal target, so my overall balance across all of my accounts will need to be £17,027.78 by 31st December for me to consider my challenge successful.
January's an expensive month for me because it's my wife's birthday, and the funds will be paid out in February because of my credit card due date, so I expect to get off to a slower start, however, am intending to maintain the £300 and £500 Regular Saver contributions which leaves £200 'extra' savings to find each month, which for the time being I'll slam into my instant access but I need to sort out getting a higher paying account PDQ. I am thinking TSB for the first £2k, but I was kind of hoping that a new switching incentive would come along soon so have held off as there's currently nothing available for switching to that particular account. All the while I wait I am forfeiting interest, however.

Payday today (I work freelance) so have rounded down the amount I have budgeted for the month and put the rest into savings. Its only £70 but if I can do enough little steps then I can make my target without feeling too restricted.
I have a cheque for £120 clearing tomorrow so will put that straight across too.Moving on upSPC #382 ~ £40 banked

A few days late but happy new year to everyone! I should have a low spend month on food as I have plenty in my cupboards to use up. Going to look at my finances shortly to check where things are, bring on the frugal new year!0
