Hi SF
Please could you put me down for £1000 saved for Jan, £250 gone to my S&S ISA, £200 to Virgin Money, £250 to TSB Reg saver, and £300 will kick off a new First Direct Reg saver once the current one matures on the 15th Jan.

I'd like to join with a target £20k, please (hopefully more).
I believe this should be straightforward as I am very aware of my finances; I budget carefully each year and ten years ahead.
I paid off my last debt (mortgage) in 2005.
Since then I've taken my full ISA allowance every year and will do so until the taxman reduces ISA tax benefits for new investments.
In the 2016/17 tax year I am also planning to hide a minimum £3.6k to a maximum £40k into my pensions (assuming the taxman's contribution counts).2016 : Realised £103,000.00 savings (banked)
2017 : Realised £97,000.00 savings (banked)
2018 : Realised £ savings (banked)
20.4% avg annual portfolio growth since 2004.

Happy New Year,everyone.:j:j
Wow,it is interesting how everyone approaches this challenge so differently. Some really interesting ideas.
At the moment my approach is simple.Last month I opened a Halifax reward account. At the moment, any savings will be going into that account.
Over the next few weeks I will be looking around for cheaper gas and electricity,(have been getting emails from MSE Energy Club for quite a while telling me I could change to save even more if I change suppliers). The money I save each month will go towards these savings. Also money left-over from the monthly budget.
Today I put my first savings for this challenge into my brand new, shiny account: £40 to start with.
I will add my number (82) to my signature (which needs a big tidy-up!!).

Delay repay cheque came through so £6.50 into savings - kerching! Scraping the pennies over here... The good thing is my work paid for the train ticket, so it's not even a refund of money I initially spent
(I promise I won't keep posting these incredibly minor victories, but it's the new year so I want to make it look like I'm making a solid start)

I think that small payments are just as motivating as big ones. As you say, they are all victoriesMoving on up
