    With slowlyfading's permission I thought I'd share this spreadsheet for anyone interested in seeing the totals over all the years since the thread started;

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/12xRvdFT1sVHdpaHBugnqZaEuPOb6_Vr46kaP_8T-ioo/edit?usp=sharing

    A few little observations;
    * apart from slowlyfading herself, only tara747 and freezspirit have been "ever present" since 2012 - hope you're both planning to sign-up again for 2017!
    * allie23 has almost been "ever present" apart from being away from the thread it seems for 2015
    * boglehead and gazzer666 have savings totals way ahead of everyone else
    * 165 people have joined the savings thread for at least 2 years, wow!

    Nice Spreadsheet! We still got some December Data to add in..
    We need some graphs to display the data please!
    I suggest plot Yearly Cumulative Target and Yearly Cumulative Actual values on y axis and plot a linear graph with Year on x axis.

    *4 members achieved over £100 000, with top saver over £300 000. (''Save £120k in 2017 for boglehead'') LOL

    * Everyone seems to have a positive savings balance, which is encouraging to see. :T

    Hello all,
    Have enjoyed reading seeing how everyone's savings are going. Well done everyone and thank you to SF for running this thread.
    At the end of the year I will post an update and fill in my spreadsheet form.
    I haven't saved as much as I had hoped because hubby and I decided to go away on a dream holiday. I haven't had a good year regarding health - stress has been an underlying factor to most of it. Also, I have an older cousin who turned 60 this year, retired a year ago but became an independent consultant. She has been dogged over the last few years with ill health - come through lymph node cancer but has now got an unknown disease. she has been in hospital since September and this week the hospital have place her into an induced coma to give her body a chance to fight the disease. Before I have always said when I retire I will do this, I will do that. But now I realise that I need to save what I can but also continue to live. I cannot wait until retirement to do everything.
    (I also have had a family member who died at 59 with cancer).

    I couldn't agree more Gem-gem. My dad died 2 weeks after he reached retirement (and spent all of it in hospital) and my partners mum passed away suddenly at the age of 58, a couple of years ago. I try to be quite healthy with my limited savings by having a long-term stash and a rainy day stash, the latter being to enable me to have the 'want' items if the desire is strong enough. However, it's going to be a little while before I touch them, as I am saving up for a nice car and I have a shortfall of around £8k to get the one I want (even second hand). That said, I live a balanced lifestyle and get to have and do lots of nice things whilst saving at the same time, largely due to the fact we have a cheap mortgage compared to most and don't have, or plan to have, kids.

    I hope your health & stress levels improve quickly & fully and wish you (and all our fellow savers) all the best for 2017! _party_

    Lomcevak 4 years, £99970.93

    I'm pretty happy with the total, but anyone who knows me from the MFW thread knows i'm a bit obsessive with round numbers, and that missing £29.07 is :mad: :D

    another edit: fairly sure I was in 2012 but dropped out part-way through, we had some building work go horribly over-budget that year and I needed to get that sorted out. So i'm almost an ever-present

    edit: just realized that it doesn't include December, which will get me over the line, so...
    *4 members achieved over £100 000, with top saver over £300 000. (''Save £120k in 2017 for boglehead'') LOL

    ... that'll be five when December is added in. If you told me that i'd save £100k in four years when I started here in 2012 I'd have thought you were bonkers :D

    Nice one, geoffers! I was actually surprised I have been saving here for 5 years (inc. next year). I shouldn't be surprised though, it's even on my bloomin' signature, but I never really noticed it! :o

  • #87 declaring £425 for December. Am well pleased, because I have exceeded my goal of £6,000! :T:j:beer: It is amazing how encouraging it is to stay motivated by regularly looking at this thread; thanks slowlyfading. Am really looking forward to the 2017 challenge. :)
  • Final post for me for this challenge. Its been a bit tight over the last few months and I've not been as frugal as I could have. Thankfully, we have kept up the pension and isa contributions so our retiring early plans are still on track (ish).

    Number 26

    November £2305.10
    December £2134.56

    Total for 2016 £27233.08

    Just short of my target so I'm a bit disappointed really :o

    Happy Christmas and a big thank you to SF for keeping this challenge going!

    Reporting for December £450

    Quite short of my goal, yet still a noticeable improvement on my previous years of saving.

    Thank you Slowly Fading & to you all.
