Hi Slowly, I know I seem to have fallen off recently, I posted nothing for October (big bills for car servicing and brakes, not a problem as the dear old ancient 4x4 has been paid for for a very long time). I'm just bringing in expenses outlay before posting for November, will post shortly.

Only made my target due to an absolute windfall, so reining in for next year to £12,000 please. Next year (December 2017) will be our ruby wedding, the first one in our family for more than 50 years due to bereavement and divorce and being a really small family. We are planning a blow out cruise now, to see the Northern Lights, something my husband has never seen and I haven't seen since I was a girl. So my savings next year, rather than being for investment, will be for that trip! Although hopefully it won't cost 12k!

This could be my last positive figure as I have just had an offer accepted on a house (yay!) which I will be ploughing the entire amount that I have managed to scrape together over the last eight years. Perhaps I will be able to report one last time at the end of December to finish the challenge!
    Congratulations!

Please do report in December. If necessary, end the challenge early just before you spend all that money ( that is report your hard won savings, not the subsequent spending).

Maybe next year you could join and start rebuilding your pot?

Thanks! Oh I will definitely be reporting for December, I was just hoping for one more payday before I hand over the lot to end the challenge in a positive and 'tidy' way.

I'd like to join again next year, but have a feeling that I'll spending most of what I earn next year on necessary stuff - house furnishings, a car etc. I'll definitely be keeping up with next year's thread though as I find it really inspiring.

  • £500 again for me - taking my total to £6900!

My contract at work has been extended for another year and my partner and I have decided we're going to look for somewhere small to rent (2 years living with my parents has been long enough!). My regular saver matures in Jan which means we'll use some of that for the deposit and fees etc. I've never had savings before and I kind of don't want to spend them!! But we've been desperate to move out for a while now. It's nice timing too as I'll put my £500 away again next month to complete this challenge and then I'll have to make a new budget and set myself a new savings target for 2017!
    Save 12K in 2017 #023 = £1345/ £6000 (22.41%)

  • Well I would like to declare £1210.32 this month. December will be much lower, £700 car repair to start with then Christmas do's etc, glad I reached my target a little early

    Well done everyone!

Hi everyone, some fantastic savings figures flooding in this month - really brilliant to see so many people staying the course despite everything life tends to throw in our way!

Looking at our November expenses we've had the house insurance to renew plus quite an expensive weekend in Newcastle visiting no.1 son for his birthday. Have also booked a little winter break in the Canaries - but dirt cheap now that OH has switched jobs to something much more flexible - & we can book the cheapest flights as soon as they pop up.

So we're reporting £2330.70 - and with just 1 month to go we are still £2000 below target. That's probably slightly out of reach....but we'll be close so I'm happy!

34 months to FIRE. Happy saving everyone.
