Sat 28th/Sun 29th November - What small DFW things will you do this weekend? :)

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym .

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

  • Hello :D
I feel a bit cheeky posting this up before I've even gone to sleep for the night, but it is officially the weekend. The party went well - better than I thought and I sold lots of smellies for people's homes. I am quite tired now though and looking forward to a bit of a lie in... dh is doing the football run tomorrow so I'm not officially required until 2pm. :j However, I confidently predict I'll be wide awake at 4am, completely unable to get any sleep until I feel tired at about 1pm and have to go out :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I'm so pleased to have other like minded people to talk to about MH issues. I hate the stigma that still seems to surround MH problems, and the judgement that these people are inferior rather than accepting that they are different, and that illness sometimes doesn't present with physical symptoms...
Anyway - I'm going to put up my Saturday list here and now - keep me on the straight and narrow tomorrow
    :rudolf: check banking
    :rudolf: clean bathroom
    :rudolf: clean kitchen
    :rudolf: hoover through
:rudolf: plan batch cooking for the week ahead
:rudolf: ds to his football match
    :rudolf: both kids to gymnastics
:rudolf: boys to watch football later
:rudolf: go to BM for a couple of urgent bits that won't wait
    :rudolf: finalise December budget
:rudolf: take the rest of my unmarked test papers to gymnastics with me
    That's loads - I'm aiming high :j

    Morning folks,

Thank you for starting the thread this morning CCL x

Hugs and positivity to those who need it x

I've not got too much planned today - I am absolutely shattered and I have a migraine brewing

    Today I have/will:
    • checked online banking
    • checked investments (deposit account)
    • updated signature (adding previous balances)
    • meals from stores
    • i may work on next years budget - normally reserved for NYE
    • i need to work on writing up my AAT evidence - i want to get the letters after my name
    • i WILL sort out the mountain of fabric
    • i have a lot of denim squares and i want to make a picnic rug but not too sure whether to add oil cloth to the back of it to make it waterproof - i will attach it using buttons so the denim can be machine washed
    • watching things on the sky box rather than going out

Think that is my lot today - take care all x

    Morning

Glad the party went well CCL. And Candy, I hope you don't get a migraine..

Today is looking bright if cold..so my small things today.

1.Take the children (still feel so weird saying that) to the bank to pay in. Son has money from his birthday and the baby has been given more money by relatives. DONE
    2. Need to investigate whether the cheap supermarket own label nappies go as small as her size. I am not paying £5 for a tiny pack from the convinience Mr T. Any one know? I can get to several supermarkets today but we don't have an Arseda nearby. DONE if wrong.
    3. 2 loads of washing to get done. Now the heating is fixed will try and get them dry on the rack rather than using the tumble. 1 load DONE
    4. Take roadkill to spend on shopping. And look out for more in the self service draws :) DONE
    5. Make our Christmas cake. Will then treat it with rum leftover from my husbands fathers day present.
    6. Make stock as my 'bag a bones' is full again :)
    7. Walk for free fitness DONE
    8. Take son to dance class which is already paid for.
    9. Send OH up to the loft for a big bag of girls clothing a friend gave us before we knew what sex the baby was. Loads of useful clothing to use in there.
    10. Work on xmas planning.

Wow I managed a list for the first time in forever!

Hello to all who follow :)

  • Morning all, I've finally got round to posting in the morning one day this week :rotfl: better late than never. I have read every day though. Thanks for starting CCL. Hope you get some sleep, I worked from 7.30-11 last night for my day job after a full day there too. No overtime either :(

    Anyway list for today:
Washing drying on airer/radiator after cheap wash, another cheap wash on just caught cheap rate.
Check BG account, I owe them for my final electric bill but they haven't sent it yet.
Move money from pressie account for a couple of bits I picked up yesterday
Packed lunch for girls at dancing
Sort out remainder of boxes/toys in dining room so we can move table tomorrow
Going to DM after dancing, she has a bundle of nectar points and we are going to combine those with some staff discount to get our Christmas non perishables and things that can be frozen. Armed with list:D
Have changed the filter in our diffuser/ dehumidifier type things in bedrooms, must look on amaz0n for some more as like to keep some in stock. Definitely helps reduce damp in bedrooms and air much drier
See if hubby can get Christmas cards form loft so I can write tonight.

Think that's all, have a good day everyone.
  • Bob I used Mr S nappies on both mine from first size and found them perfectly adequate. Both girls too - know it sounds odd but think it is different for different sexes :o

Other option is to look on Amazon. Until recently I was buying big boxes of pampers (albeit much larger size) for £10, which was even less than the price of supermarket ones.

Well said. And of course if you feel that you have to hide it that makes it so much worse.

Need to do my finances this morning and work out my electricity usage. I had been reading the meter once a week but that has slipped. I am a bit worried that our current DD is too low.

OH and DS1 playing footie this aft. DS2 is going to the pictures with a "friend" who I think is a girl but DS is not telling me :) He will need dropping off and picking up again.

There is one of those weigh your own type shops in the town where DS is going to the cinema and they do bags of christmas cake ingredients which are good value. I am a bit late doing it but I will get the ingredients and make the cake tomorrow.

Will keep the woodburning stove going with free wood that we were given. Need to work out next weeks meal plan and do a list. Also need to decide whether to book an online shop for Christmas week.

Hope that migraine doesnt develop Candy.

Have a lovely Saturday everyone. Get those elbows out and grab some bargains if you are going shopping and if you are going to Christmassy type events (lots of lights switch ons here) enjoy x
  • Morning all :D
Slept till half past seven - I'll take that.
Candy - hope your migraine doesn't materialise...
List as planned last night plus I might look at trying some knitting...

Thank you all - I may have a nap later... My migraines tend to be down to tiredness or hormones..... Could be either at the moment.

Just checked my bank account (again) and my lottery winnings are there - handy as I need to buy printer ink (have checked for the cheapest own brand option) and hubby and I are of out to a country pub for lunch (celebrating promotion)

  • Quick knitting question folks. My needles are hand-me-downs from my granny so are in old uk sizes. The pattern I'm looking at says I need US size 4, which I have googled as to being somewhere between old size 9 and 10. Can anyone confirm this for me and suggest whether I should go for 9s or 10s?
