Justforme/GSRcat so sorry to hear the sad news, horrible at any time but just seems worse at this time of year.

I'm also not doing well on the NSD front - pretty sure I won't get to 15 either but will aim for as many as I can. Another spendy day today (raffle tickets at work, milk and bread, money to OH and christmas decorations). I've given OH £40 out of the dentist money as he's really struggling at the moment and it will stop him stressing so much. I bought a new tree and lights, can't find the decorations anywhere. Really hoping they will turn up as some of them I've had for years and hold a lot of sentimental value.

    EDIT: forgot my three things
    - a lovely message from a friend
    - time to read my book this evening
    - yummy cauliflower cheese for tea (proper comfort food :))
    Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500  1.8.25 - £106,362.86
    Mortgage overpayment savings - £3.33/£50
Mortgage overpayments so far - £675.98

Quick check in from me (need more sleep).

Funeral was good - a very gentle tribute to a sometimes gentle man (the word volatile came up a lot). Allowed plenty of time to dress and needed it.

Girl who took us to the crematorium had to be back for child's nativity play so couldn't ask to be dropped at other house and had to go back out. Estate agent still having problems with keys so tried a bundle of them then went to office to swap. Bought an all day bus ticket (£5.20 but would have paid £2 to get to the other house and back) so have done cemetery visit and last of the hand delivered cards. As I had spent money I also got another book of stamps.

Been out for about four hours mostly riding on buses but am absolutely exhausted. Tomorrow I will stay home and catch up on paperwork and putting things away.

Today I am grateful for a pleasant chat with a two year old in the car, for happy memories of the man whose funeral I attended and for getting things ticked off my to do list.

  • Hi everyone!

Just popping in to report 2 more NSDs.

Feeling really run down and tired at the moment but praying it doesn't turn into a full blown illness, I just don't have time to be ill! Started my new job today and absolutely loved it, but am back to the old one tomorrow as I'm still working my notice period. Roll on January!

    Hi guys.

On the school run yesterday we were sat at some traffic lights and to the right is a Chinese restaurant that is being fitted out, we were at the lights quite a while and by the time we moved we had decided that tomorrow night we were having a takeaway, Chinese for me and DH and pizza for the kids. I discussed it with DH and we thought it would cost about £20. Anyway today I have come to my senses and have been to the co-op and bought their £5 meal deal which consists of a large pizza, dough balls, chicken goujons, wedges and ice cream. I also bought a large garlic and rosemary flatbread to go with it which was YS at 59p. I will need to get another pizza but the whole thing will be about £7. I will make a homemade dip to go with the wedges and there will be some of those left over for another meal.

Whilst I was there I also got some YS fresh chicken and mushroom soup, fresh pineapple and some spiced orange mocha (8 sachets) and a huge jar of Nutella, I used some vouchers which I got for being an energy customer so total spend was £5.76.

Dolly - you are so right to ditch the take away. They rarely taste as good as we think they will and really are expensive for no good reason. Your bargain hunt sounds so much more appealing.

Don't mention takeaway dolly! I have started to have my old cravings for them and have been resisting having one for a while. I have however suggested that if my family come to visit me at the weekend, then we could have one. They offered to come and cook dinner so we could all be together but I don't have to travel as I am still quite ill (and today woke up with infections in both eyes :( )

I have just found my New Year goals from the last few years and it is interesting to see how the same ones go unmet and end up being carried forward. This year I am going to change my goals to reflect some of my changing thoughts that my counsellor is helping me work on. They will be less specific and more about dealing with how I feel about certain aspects of my life. So for instance, I want to feel comfortable in my clothes and with my body shape/size, instead of saying I must lose 1st.

Is anyone else loving having their Christmas tree lights on in the evenings?

Dolly and Boberella- we rarely have takeaways these days, I was so disappointed the last time I had a Chinese that I would rather just save my money, even when we were having the kitchen done we only had one takeaway and that was because it was so late and we were so tired and fed up it was needed. I've taught myself to make curry and we often have homemade pizza, if we are feeling really lazy we will get some of those takeaway style meals from Iceyland which are really rather good and a fraction of the price.

Fmess- sorry to hear you are still poorly, eye infection sounds horrible, can it be treated with OTC meds?
I don't have my tree up yet, :( more progress on the extension today and we are water tight! Woohoo! But there is still the floor to do which means we can't move furniture till then and therefore no tree, I am praying it will be done soon. I do have my lights up outside and my year round lights up.

Today has been yet another spend day, I had to order the radiator for the extension and I had to wait and check with the builders that it was the correct output, then I had to settle a water bill because the building work made it rise considerably. Argh these NSDs are not going to plan!

    Today I am grateful for-
    1. People giving me lifts to places, it's made a massive difference to my tired body.
    2. The pot of coffee made for my work meeting AND biscuits!
    3. My DSs pre school giving me his learning story, I've been welling up a bit reading it and I am so sad they are closing.
    3.

Today I am grateful for our IT blokey at work and his help, for lovely y11s, for cuddles with dd, for all of dd's prescription items being in when I went to the chemist, for my warm jumper that always makes me feel better.
