Maybe they are forced to do this because o2/voda charge them for doing so and maybe Orange/T-Mobile don't charge them?

I think they use service providers for o2 and Vodafone (regardless of the fact that the SPs are now probably owned by o2 and Voda) while T-Mob and Orange don't have SP's and you have to deal directly with them.

Me and OH have just taken out two deals with Mobileshop. Both with 12 months free line rental (100xnet + 100 text). I went for the Motorolla V220 OH went for Sony Ericisson T630 as its blue tooth.

I was happy to pay £10 to port my number but orange told me I would have to pay an extra month line rental £25 as my 12 mths are up on 21st May and I have given notice for this date. I have asked to convert both contracts to PAYG as I can then get PAC number for free. I was then going to ask MS if they would port my numbers and pay their £10. If not doesn't really matter as I have enough free texts to send everyone my new number.

I hope the cashback works. Did last year with Chatterbox.com but they have no good deals at mo.

Slightly off topic but I got the T630 from MobileShop yesterday on the 12 months free offer and am very pleased with it but I can't figure out how to take the back off the phone!

Can Poppy9 or anyone else who has this phone please offer any advice?

Just pay the £10, considering the cracking deals it really is ony a small price to pay. Will be going with MS for me and 'er indoors as soon as I have decided which phones to go for.

Only my motorolla has arrived as I ordered earlier than OH. His should be here tomorrow. If I was you I would go into a mobile shop and ask them.

I remember I could never get the knack of my Nokia 3410 although everyone else including my then 6 year old could remove the back in seconds:confused: . I haven't had any problems with subsequent Nokia's
