I have just started to purchase Motorola with O2 100+100 and have come to a standstill.
First asked them about the insurance(free 3 months and you can cancel)
gave me the number of the insurers and i thought i would check with them to see about future cancellation and how they want me to do it.
The number is a recorded voice giving options to press and the cancellation option went dead 3 times and after trying all other options i am a bit suspicious.
Am as we speak on a livechat with mobileshop, who happily responded to my questions in seconds until i asked this one after 10 minutes and i kept repeating she said sorry "technical problem and gave me the insurers number again.
I pointed cout i had this and what about the number being uncontactable, no answer still and its twenty minutes.
Worrying as trying to get cashback looks dim, anyone put my mind at rest??

Mobilshop are a top rated online mobile phone supplier. They have been around for a fair few years.

You tried calling the insurers? Did you have problems with the insurers or mobileshop?

BTW don't work for them, used them on several occaisions in the past and have no compliants.

I've just recently purchased a Nokia 6230i from them and the insurance (according the the stuff that came with my phone) is handled by Citymain Administrators Limited.

A Google search revealed that CityMain Administrators Limited are used by a lot of other mobile firms for insurance purposes.

I don't know how reliable they are on cashback's yet as only had my phone a few days but I have emailed them for more info on their cashback, and this was the response:-
    Hi, thanks for your e-mail.
It's quite a simple process. You need to send the 6th and 12th months airtime bills back to us (just a copy not the originals) along with the cash back voucher which will be in the box along with the phone.

The cash back voucher does run out (expiry date on the front) so you need to remember to post it (recorded) in good time to get to us before it expires.

We'll then take about 45 days to process the claim and post you a cheque for the amounts.

Hope this helps. Please let me know if you need any more details.

I emailed them back with regards to what would happen if I hadn't received my 6th bill by the time the voucher is due to expire and they said that my 5th bill would be ok if the 6th bill hadn't arrived in time.

    BTW means "By The Way"

My folks have a cashback deal with them, however have not cashed in yet, as they have only had the phone a few months. However BBB_UK has pretty much explained how it needs to be done. Nothing overly different from other cashback deals around.

I agree - most mobile firms operate similiar cashback t&c, the main difference is if they pay the cashback back to us?

The emails I've got from them especially the one about it's ok to send the 5th bill in if the 6th bill hasn't arrived in time, I've kept in case I have to send the 5th bill in and they start being funny. I'm prepared to take it further (trading standards, etc) if it becomes necessary.

I did check around and I found that most people had complaints about onestopphoneshop and their cashback offers, etc so I stayed away from them. Couldn't really find anyone who had cashback problems with mobileshop but only time will tell.

Thanks bbb_uk and pin for help. i am going to get one as soon as O2 who iam with confirm i can keep my number, they have said i just need to do a migration of numbers but two assistants at Mobile shop have said its £10, now i dont know if O"have a different approach to Mobileshop phones as they have swapped my number before a nmonth ago for free.
MS insist that it is definitely £10

It is £10 admin fee for porting numbers. The network would probably do it for free but I suggest you ask mobileshop if this will affect your cashback because the cashback may only be applicable to the number mobilshop have on their records because after porting the number supplied by mobileshop will no longer exist and your o2 bills will state a different number (the number you ported over to it) on it.

The best approach to this is if you email them and get confirmation in writing (ie the email) that if you should later on down the line decide to port a number over to your new o2 contract that this will NOT affect your cashback in anyway.

Try and make the email clear about what your plan is but don't make sound like your going to do it as soon as you receive the phone/contract but just what you 'may' do sometime down the line. Ensure that their reply is also clear and that it can't be taken as meaning something else.

If they say your cashback could/would be affected by it then it would be better that you paid the £10 admin fee otherwise risk losing on a lot of cashback from them.

 Whoops already done the blunt approach, said O2 have confirmed free migration of my number and if i went via O2 and saved myself the fee, would it affect the cashback terms. They cant really object as i stated need of existing number for work and if i can have it done for free, then why would i pay!!
