Hi LippyDoodle and welcome to the forum.
If you've read previous posts on this thread the you will no doubt have come to understand that you are at the beginning of an interesting journey. If all goes well, you'll save a packet. If, on the other hand, there are problems then you are in the dodo

  • I had been considering moving to Avro some time back but on the advice of those more clued up than me I decided to remain with Octopus but move to one of their innovative tariffs.  Hopefully this will give me the best of both worlds and avoid having to go on the Avro learning curve as well. "Interesting" could well be an apt description.

Hi Consumerist and thank you for the welcome

I have to say I think you are totally right, but let's hope I won't be in the dodo!

Nothing but positive words for Avro. Just renewed with them for the third year as 1) I have never had any hassles with them, 2) they have consistently been the cheapest. I have just renewed to Simple and Flow 12M. Dual fuel: Elec SC 17.85p, 18.16 Per KWH, Gas SC 17.85p, 3.18 per KWH (prices inc Vat).

I couldn't get very close to those prices on comparison sites. MSE is currently saying Sainsbury's Energy fixed is the cheapest but they are not: Elec: SC 17.26p, 19.82 per KWH, Gas: SC 19.27p 3.96p per KWH (prices inc VAT).

  • I've just renewed for the 3rd year as well as they were the cheapest and I've had no hassle over that time.

No disrespect Sam but you continuously rattle on about Octopus on this the Avro thread.

The fact is that for a fixed deal Avro are the cheapest for both fuels, so that means you`re paying more for whatever tariffs you are on.

  • If the trend of the thread is to include comparisons with other suppliers then I am only adding my pennyworth. The fact is that I get an appreciably better deal from one of the Octopus fixed ToU tariffs - but will spare you the details since as you say this is an Avro thread.

The Octopus tariffs you keep on about cannot be accessed by a simple switch from Avro.
You do have your right to an opinion but it`s mostly about Octopus on the Avro thread.
  • I was merely pointing out that these tariffs exist as a cheaper alternative to Avro without going into the mechanics which belong to a different thread. Any thread has to consider the pros and cons of the respective supplier compared with what the market has to offer. Beyond that I don't have an axe to grind.

Unless the tariff is a fixed tariff then the fact would seem to be that you are getting an appreciably better deal at the moment and only time will tell whether it remains that way. It is not for everyone to monitor energy prices on a day-to-day basis.
