I think that the trick is to select the date - manually - when entering your meter readings. Do this, even if you are entering the data on the "right" dat,e and they don't seem to "correct" your data.oldagetraveller1 said:My old gas meter which measures volume consumed used in cubic feet seems to be soldiering on nicely and it passed zero some time ago.I suspect you are correct, though, that the time will come when it is considered past it's service life or fails. Then resistance to a replacement of the "smart" kind will be inevitably futile. In this instance it will probably be a wasted excercise because of the distance between the outside gas meter and still dumb electricity meter or no "smart" leccy meter! With regards to Avro, I'm still baffled why, in spite of submitting meter readings on the billing date, insist adding on bit as an estimate. They added 0.7 of a unit to the gas reading this month! Nothing to the leccy.Imperial College computer model possibly?

Consumerist said:As meters come to the end of their service life or cycle round to zero again, suppliers will install smart meters because new dumb meters just won't be manufactured any more. In the fullness of time, then, it seems we will all have them - like it or not!
I had an "old" gas meter expire and they replaced it with a bulky, wheezy, meter. I asked about this and was told that old meters were being purchased back from the scrap-merchants, refurbed and re-used. I gather that this has been the case with electricity meters, too.The old "KISS" approach. ...

Odd. I always provide my meter readings on the required date and they are always used accurately. I provide both my electric and gas readings as whole numbers and that's how they are recorded - never a decimal point. So I don't know why your statement would show a decimal point. Are you entering whole numbers as your readings?oldagetraveller1 said:My old gas meter which measures volume consumed used in cubic feet seems to be soldiering on nicely and it passed zero some time ago.I suspect you are correct, though, that the time will come when it is considered past it's service life or fails. Hi everyone. I notice that the tarriff 'Simple and SuperPrime' is not offered on comparison sites, and it seems to offer a better saving than Avro's other offers. Can I get the 'Simple and UPremier12M' tarriff via comparison site, and get cashback, and change over to Simple and SuperPrime?
If not, is there a referral schema on Avro?0 -
You may be able to do as you suggest but I'm not so sure it will be worth it unless the tariff costs are significantly different. I'm not aware of any referral scheme by Avro.shaggy said:Hi everyone. Avro - an absolute nightmare. We have an account balance of zero - £0.00 and they are still blocking us from moving to a new provider - and no, we are not tied in to a contract.

I am battling with Avro to get my money back.I built up a credit of £300+ and was looking forward to a nice windfall. But then Avro decided to hold back some of my money and no matter what I say they would not budge. If you add the amount they want to keep to the monthly DD ,they are not cheap any more. I have been in credit even in the winter so they can have no excuse not to refund my money. You should avoid them.0

You should avoid them.Winter is not the best time to ask for a credit refund. It is fairly standard practice for suppliers to expect a credit balance at this time of year. You say that Avro decided to hold back some of your credit. The remainder will be used to fund your consumption over the winter and you will have a nice windfall now - just not as much as you had expected. However much they might want to hold in your account, they will still be as cheap as you expected - you will only pay for what you use in the end.

if you actively manage your account by putting in monthly accurate readings and checking your bills, there shouldn`t be a large excess amount in credit on your account.
Excess credit is caused by the energy supplier having to estimate your usage (because you haven`t bothered to) for billing and then adjusting your monthly DD to cover what they believe to be your annual usage.
Anyone actively managing their accounts should never have a £300 credit.1
