Avro Energy reviews: Give your feedback

I switched to Avro just over a year ago. The switch went without a hitch. They send regular reminders to submit meter readings which most months I ignore. I submit probably every 6 months yet their algorithm seems to work out my estimated use pretty accurately.
I've never had any reason to contact them so no idea what the customer service is like, but the web site is easy enough to use.
Original deal came to an end this month and apart from a few really cheap suppliers with iffy feedback these guys came out cheapest again so stuck with them. Switch direct on their site which took 30seonds and new deal activated the next day. Perfect.
An app for meter readings would make life easier, I wish they would develop one. Oh, and they don't bombard me every other week suggesting I get s Smart Meter, which is a big bonus in my book.:T0 -
My contract ended 8 days ago and despite instructing Avro to move my account to cheapest they have move it to the standard, they also failed to give statements since February, when I previously queried they said the computers were offline and call back another time but got fed up hanging on a never answered phone. After a email yesterday the statements can be viewed and I find I am £82 in credit without the tariff I wanted and my payments if I decide to switch to tariff I wanted in the first place only £3 less than I am paying now. I have now lost faith in Avro although I have been a customer since they first started up, the customer service has declined as the customer base has increased.0

EdF => Toto => AVRO => SO => EdF.
I suppose you could regard that as progress - of a kind.
At least the newcomers have encouraged EdF to offer better value.

poguels, I have always been able to switch tariff using the online screen so maybe you did not try this. Since you have only been on the standard tariff for 9 days as its summer I don't think this has made a great deal of difference to your credit amount. At this time of year I am always in credit by about £100 but the savings to be had each year by being with Avro far exceed this. What is important going forward is how much your energy will cost for the next year compared to other companies and not the fact that your DD amount has dropped by £3. If your total costs have dropped compared with the previous year I would be surprised as energy price have risen considerably.0

Don't assume that you can initiate a switch away before the end of your fixed contract and if the switch takes you beyond the contract, you will continue to be billed at the fixed rate.
Avro don't and told me I an interpreting the licence conditions (I quoted SLC 24.9 to them) slightly differently to them, when I complained. Only cost me a few pounds extra on their standard tariff, but I was interested to see how they responded.
When I left BG for Avro, the switch took me beyond my end of contract with BG and they continued to charge me at the fixed rate I had been on.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. I've been with avro energy for two years, no issues at all. Through MSE cheap energy deals I keep regular checks on energy prices and sometimes see cheaper deals from avro energy to my current deal with them. By emailing avro energy I have managed to constantly switch to their cheaper deals with no issues at all. No exit fees to pay. Good company to use.0

On the face of it Avro are being very naughty,...to the best of my knowledge (which admittedly could be lacking!) the rules regarding tariff charges during a switch are very clear.
Given Avro’s recent transgressions you’d think they’d want to keep in Ofgem’s good books.
British Gas have obviously mended their ways because in the past they’ve been guilty of doing exactly what you say Avro have done to you;... BG over charged ‘switching’ customers £782k;...they were eventually made to pay the money back plus £kkk’s in compensation.
Perhaps someone at Avro should be reading this Ofgem link:

Actually I see that the wording of SLC 24.9 has changed from the linked document. It now says:24.9 In relation to each Fixed Term Supply Contract, unless the Domestic Customer has entered into a new Fixed Term Supply Contract with the licensee or paragraph 22C.5 of standard condition 22C applies, the licensee must ensure that where paragraph 24.10 applies a Domestic Customer will continue to be subject to the same Charges for the Supply of Electricity and the same terms and conditions (but not any Termination Fee) that applied to that Fixed Term Supply Contract until they have changed their supplier.

I asked AVRO for the switch (above) even though I'm in month seven of a 12 month fix.
Today, (6 days later) I got a new 12 month lower contract on the Simple & SuperSavvy tariff as from the date of my request (8th May 2019):j:T RESULT
Having switched my tariff, last month and with still 11 months to go on my Simple & SuperSavy (as above)
While, following the current downwards cost for energy, I saw on MSE that Simple and SuperSave is a better deal for a 12 month fix, so on the 29th June I sent in my meter readings and a photo to give proof and today 4th July 2019, AVRO confirmed my switch to Simple and SuperSave, with a lower monthly cost and a new 12 month fix, from the 29th June.
What is there not to like about them?:j:T0
