  • Thank you so much for the link. I'd been waiting to hear from them since seeing this on the news. They say things come in threes and, in my case, that's three current recalls from products purchased in the last three years: a Hotpoint tumble dryer, a 63 reg Vauxhall Zafira and a 12 plate VW Passat. The VW might be the most headline grabbing, but it's the only one of the three that isn't a fire risk!

Three recalls and yet we've not heard from any of these manufacturers yet ... *sigh*
  • hi all,my hotpoint is also affected, ive tried several times to enter my details but when I click "send details" the page disappears :(
Does anyone have a number to call Hotpoint please,TIA
  • Kezz88 keep trying, I don't think they were expecting so many to check and inform them. I have one of the machines covered under the recall. I received an email saying it will be around 5 weeks before any action is taken because of the overwhelming response. Until then to keep the filters clear and don't use it unattended.

That kept happening to me yesterday, I finally managed to get it to go through this morning. Persevere, you'll get there.

What action are you expecting from Indesit/Hotpoint in respect of your old Hotpoint dryer?

As you no longer have the dryer, they are unable to inspect it for evidence of malfunctioning.

I'm not really expecting any response, hence why I said "I doubt I'll hear anything". I also said that the dryer was "long gone" thereby implying it was not available for inspection even if they do reply.
I was merely pointing out that I had scrapped a tumble dryer that may well have been suffering from this design fault.

Mine is affected and i had to just guess the year as i can't remember when we bought it, mine has started leaking from the bottom left side came home to a large pool of water on my wood floor yesterday ;( any ideas why this has happened guys? needless to say won't be using it unattended again
  • well they rang me (and sent an email) to book a date for someone to come round, next week, they will contact me again to remind me they're on their way and again to narrow down the time they should be available, they initially offered me a Saturday so they obviously will be working weekends which may be of help to some.

  • I would like a bit of advice, less than a week before this came into the press (2 weeks ago) I bought a new dryer indesit, from very. They took my hotpoint (2 years old and broken) away. 5 days into using it I see these articles and on indesits website saying the affected models are not on sale, they are I bought one unknowing. I contacted very and indesit, (with photos of this message )indesit haven't yet over a week later got back to me, very only just. I do not want this dryer they shouldn't have sold it me yet they are being terrible with their response, please phone us is the reply - I do for a 30 min call I get nowhere we need to speak to customer excellent dept and they will phone you. Within another 3-5 working days- I wait another week! Are you having a laugh? Customer excellence? The item is faulty collect it! They are being terrible and I have threatened small claims on them. Surely they should collect a faulty dryer but now it's 2 weeks in (I initially complained when it was 5 days old). Please any advice would be great! I will not use Very or indesit again!!

If you didn't want the thing you should've cancelled your order with Very sometime during the first 14 days after delivery.
My understanding is that after the remedial work the risk will no longer be there.

Why do you no longer want the machine?
Didn't your research before purchase uncover any issues?

Why do you say Very shouldn't have sold this machine?
Surely Very weren't to know that the manufacturer were about to make the statement.
