Amazing news. Well done you!:TPAYDBX 2016 #55 100% paid! :j Officially bad debt free...don't count my mortgage.
Now to start saving...it's a whole new world!!0 -
Still buzzing after yesterdays good news! OH insisted that we celebrated so we ordered a pizza and the OH used TCB without being prompted. Was Friday the 18th the day of miracles?
Granted it was only 41p but as my Grandma always said you only need 100 pennys to make a pound and a 100 pounds to make well a 100 pounds :rotfl::rotfl:
Phoned my bank TSB and have opened up a monthly saver which is going to be 2016 Christmas Fund. No ifs, buts or coconuts we are saving £25 each. The advisor said that would work out to be £600 in a year  now I love my friends. I love my family. I adore my FLP but there aint no way in hell Im spending £600 on Christmas.
Been thinking what to get the OH for Christmas and Im honestly at a loss. Normally I get him batman stuff, or breaking bad stuff, or Mario stuff but I think if he sees another t-shirt, pair of shoes, PS4 game underneath the Christmas tree I think he will go spare. Im thinking of getting him an apple watch. I know its not MSE, I get its money better spent somewhere else but at the end of the day him and FLP are my "main people" presents, I shouldnt even need to put it on the CC. Remember how I said my wages were slightly messed up? Well apparently Im due a back payment and I did a few hours OT last month (I wasnt making a bed under my desk or anything but 10 hours at time and a half)
Still not received my refund from BT another live chat and apparently it was sent via cheque, wouldn't be so bad but talk about wrong time of the year to post out money, a week before Christmas at least it will be a little bonus before New Year.
Ive been thinking instead of tackling the CC first maybe I should throw myself into the OD but my heart is like
"NO NO NO don't do it Megano your paying more interest on the CC, the CC is your "bucket" while the OD is your river. Stick to the plan! For the love of god the plan!" but somewhere in the back of my head Im thinking "WOW Megano. Thats the best idea Ive ever heard of! That's better than the selfie stick!"Virgin Money £0/£1445

Wouldn't you be better off putting the extra money to the debts? Apple watches are expensive. I'm not in debt, and I wouldn't pay that amount of money for one.
I really don't think you've had your LB moment.0 -
Apple Watch? Think about this carefully, they are expensive and you already have debts to pay. So essentially you will pay dearly for watch.
Think of the amount of interest you will save if the money is paid off the credit card. Then add this to the price of the watch.
Small thoughtful presents in our house.
I don't want a big credit card bill in January. We are lucky in that we always pay off the balance in full. I couldn't bear to pay the interest rates credit cards charge, money wasted in my book.0 -

I think your being a dash mean, with all due respect your reading a diary you don't really know my situation 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Your right I would be better paying extra money towards debt that's why I work overtime and have a part time job on top of that.
In terms of the apple watch Ive spoken to OH's mum and dad who want to contribute £100 and my mum and her boyfriend who want to contribute £50 even OH is willing to pay 1/2 of the rest :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Realized today BIL-exGF got professional photos taken with FLP a couple of months after he was born. The original prints are no where to be seen but its going to cost us £80 to get the ones of them two together which I dont mind paying. Its important FLP has some nice photos of him and his mum together after all its not like he'll have many memorys of her.
So angry at W1 the Christmas rota was realise 4 weeks ago and since then Ive said "I dont have enough holidays to cover what youve give me" (as they only had me working 1 day over a two week period) I spoke to the scheduling guy and my manager "its fine Megano, its fine enjoy your time off" today picking up FLP my mobile rings and its the SAME scheduling guy "Erm Megano there is a problem. You dont have enough holidays to cover the festive period so this week your working 2.30pm until 11pm) and I was like "No scheduling guy Ive been saying this for weeks I dont mind coming in but Ive already booked shifts at W2. Im not going to mess them around because of your mistake"
Hung up the phone and I was like wow Megano you really stood your ground then I realized I should have said f^^k off. Its your mistake I'll see you in 2016.:(:(:(
Swimming tomorrow with FLP give his Grandma and Grandad a rest. Just wish the whole social work situation was resolved so we could try and give FLP some normality and get on with our lives.Virgin Money £0/£1445

I'd 2nd not getting the Apple iWatch. I have a FitBit Surge which does (almost) everything an iWatch does. It also costs less and the battery lasts 4 days between charges rather than the pualtry 9 hours of the Apple product.
When I read "We found out today that BIL-exGF funeral is on Friday (in the local supermarket of all places)", My wierd sense of humour kicked-in and my first thought was 'what a strange place to bury someone'.
Anyway, one good gift to purchase for yourself and your OH would be YNAB as it can be installed on as many computers as you own and is a superb program for controlling your finances.Never Knowingly Understood.

I'm not complaining cause I love W2 but that's now the 3rd shift in a row that's been cancelled and as I said before if you don't work then you don't get paid (the hours of being on a 0 hour contract).
So most likely my 'free money' next month is going to be lower, but screw it we will cross that bridge when we come to it.Virgin Money £0/£1445

Hi great news re job im very pleased for you!
As for your apple watch? I did the same in the summer. I saved and worked hard so I have paid down debt and saved whilst also moving house. Yes £299 is an awful lot of money, but if they will love and use it why not? You work very hard so if you are buying this without increasing your debt (along with help!) I bought two in July. Saved hard for them and got my education discount for having a student card. My DH will not be getting much more than tokens for christmas and he was happy with this. We both needed replacement electronic fitbits (they were both broken and 3 years old - not necessary but we used every day and helped with our fitness) therefore I saw this as a way of getting a piece of tech to do the job for a little more money.
At the end of the day paying off debt is a hard thing. I think youve had your lightbulb moment - otherwise you wouldnt have been honest about this purchase. x

So Im using last month as a "at least I tried but could do better"
Some hints I picked up from last month
- Goodbye fizzy juice, chocolate and chicken and cherizo stew its been nice knowing you but Im thinking your just too expensive for me. espically the cafe £30 for lunch for two people :eek::eek:
- Taxis. Yes I live in Scotland. Yes it rains here (alot) but I need to stop snoozing the alarm clock and get up.
- Part time job has to come out of the budget, as the shifts are too unpredictable. First month I got £190, this month £120 and as for next month I'll be lucky to get £50 as 4 shifts I've meant to be working have been cancelled last minute and Ive had to cancel 5 shifts because of the "situation" that's 18 hours Ive lost:eek::( meaning Im £90 down after tax.
-ShopandScan NEEDS to be done every week. Yes the OH does "the main" shopping but I still buy lunch and things
This month (as in today)
- Goodbye to the bank of mum (£135)
- Goodbye to the extra payments I have to make to the landlord cause of the rent date change (£50)
- Goodbye to £100 off the overdraft. I swear I was like should I keep it? Should I? What if? What if? and I was like NO Megano get it done! its amazing 3% of my debt gone because of a phone call.
- Finally got a cheque through from BT so that's going towards the CC.
- Found a really weird app called Reciept Hog on itunes where you take photos of well your receipts and earn points which you can use to get amazon gift vouchers (forget the monthly saver for next year the amount of things I'm trying to do to get amazon vouchers is unreal :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:)
-Started a £2 jar (take away container) and the "copper" jar again its only been 1 day and already its received £2.75
My mum is wanting to give me money for my bday with the strict instructions its to be used on a tattoo (my mums given up buying me gifts) I was thinking of getting something to represent FLP but shes worried as there is talks he might be taken into care so OH and I are needing to speak to social work (surely they want him to stay with family?!) that's the worst case situation as right now he's having a ball at his Grandma and Grandad's house. BIL needs to sort himself out, I understand hes mourning but there is a little boy who deserves better.
Forgive me diary but I have sinned.....I bought the apple watch for the OH for his Christmas (remember its a "chip in" present) setting me back £230. Should it have been better used paying debts? Yes. Do I regret it? No. OH and I have had a s^^t s^^t time this year with BIL and his exGF, my work situation (failed probation twice meaning two new jobs) social work and just general ARGH moments I honestly feel he deserves it. OH is a rock to his family and when anything goes wrong hes the first one to get called so its nice to be a rock to him.Virgin Money £0/£1445
