Bossy - when learning to read/improving there should only be one word in 20 that the reader struggles with. Phonics, if well-taught, gives decoding skills, but the reader may not understand all words. He/she should be able to work out the meaning in context though.

Thanks for the suggestions. My day got worse! Cambridge park and ride has taken 5 hours of my day. work was 5 hours. I relieved DD1 who took DD2 to meet Santa ( so gutted I could not get there in time. DD2's belief is hanging on by a very thin thread). Went back to get my car and managed ro scrape another car getting out of my sardine tin parking space :-(
DH has been brilliant. He put his phone no on the note we left on the damaged car, spoke to the owner who was very reasonable. He pointed out out to me that i've worked 3 weeks and my recent paycheck will just about out the insurance excess! Its 11pm now and i have to go back to work for 9 am tomorrow. Better go to bed!0 -
How horrid mumto5. Hugs x
I lost a long post earlier
Edited version. Lots of flying and I have eaten my oldest frog. I have sorted some court papers from 2000-2003. It was still unpleasant. 2 hours shreading followed.
Happy Birthday Ionafan x

Thank you for all the birthday wishes. I've had a good day - a very pleasant drive to a productive meeting this morning, though it began raining on the way back; lunch out with DH; another productive meeting this afternoon in the opposite direction; managed to pick up another click and collect item from Merry Hell on the way there; choir practice this evening (they all sang to me
); food shopping on the way home; and a long chat with DD. DS1 says he will pop round in the morning, and DS2 has sent a card that mad me laugh out loud. Flying has been limited to putting away the shopping and making coffee!
Tomorrow I have to get DH to the station by 07:30 so that he can go and steward at the big model railway show at the NEC. I've got choral society rehearsal all afternoon and the concert in the evening. Hoping to get some more paperwork and tidying done between times, and I need to weigh out cake ingredients ready for baking on Sunday.
Sorry your day has been miserable, Mumto5.
Well done on dealing with your oldest frog, dancemum. Shredding can be very therapeutic.
Hope your course went well, froddy.
LW, are you enjoying the patter of muddy feet now?
Pigpen, be careful of your health, please - there are some very nasty chest infections around atm.
See you all tomorrow x0
