Narc0lepsy do you assess people for dyslexia etc then - hope you don't mind me asking. We are getting S assessed and have been told it'll be about February time. He has very strong dyslexic traits and we think he is dyslexic as my husband is plus lots of his siblings and nephews/nieces. S is struggling with maths especially the times table and it's so hard to see him upset. I'm hoping the assessment will give us some good ideas how to help him
Yes, although I do mainly over 16yr olds. I'll pm you in case you want to ask any questions, I'm always happy to give free advice.
Some schools are better than others; it drives me nuts to assess someone at uni to hear that they have never had an assessment or support of any kind.
Hope panic attack has abated poor thing; I've only ever had one in my life and it was terrifying; no idea at all what caused it.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.0

I've found a whole lot of airline amenity packs and toothbrushes, and some hotel toiletries. Does anyone know of charities that would take these? I'm assuming homeless charities might, as I know they are always after socks, and I'm guessing the tissues/mints/toothbrushes/toothpaste/handwipes/lip balm/handcream etc are also useful. But I can't find anything about where I might be able to post them to...
 Local foodbank?
 Salvation Army?

Is there a drop-in homeless shelter run over the Christmas period anywhere near you? I used to help out at one here, and we had a box full of stuff like that which was snapped up. Salvation Army?Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.0

Just got it - thanks very much. We're on a waiting list right now and hope to be seen Feb next year but can't come soon enough as really want to help S as much as we can as quickly as we can.
Panic attack gone thankfully - Z saw counsellor today and they want to see me too next week to see if we can come up with a plan to help her. I'm scared stiff that when I used to go really disassociative and not be able to move it would be Z who could get me up and moving and somehow I've passed my MH issues onto her DH home now and telling me not to think like that but can't help it. Hugs to LW. Keep breathing and do it a bit at a time. The number of pages is usually directly related to how inane the questions are.
Bossy, fingers crossed it will be a good opportunity. 1993 I was made redundant, changed career, did 10 yrs in that place (shortly before they restructured) then left to go freelance. I haven't regretted any of it.
Home late after uni. Set up new printer and have the excitement of just printed off my first automatic double-sided page. Far easier than printing one side, going across to the printer - tripping over office debris on the way - then turning the paper over (often the wrong way). The printer has its own email address, so anyone can send it stuff. Magic.
I can't say I've achieved anything much fly-like today other than hoovering when I took the old printer up. Determined to get an early night tonight and be galvanised into lots of action tomorrow.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.0

Homeless shelters, women (and mens) refuge places? Salvation Army? I'd have a look to see if there's any local charities who are advertising for shoebox appeals. I know there's one here in Liverpool which we're donating to instead of buying anyone over 18 gifts this year. We're using the money we would have spent to buy supplies for the charity instead. I'm going to be using boxes which my work delivery comes in and filling it up with cheap toiletries, sweets etc from bargain shops. Fortunately there's a pick up point at the bottom of our road so I've already spoken to the people organising to check its okay
Spoke to DD about getting ahead with the flying this weekend. She has 2 essays to write and some revision to do, but always takes Friday evening off so she said she'll help me then. I'm thinking proper deep clean, pulling furniture out (as in bookcases), washing paintwork down etc so I'm going to get on with washing curtains, washing sofa throws, dealing with the shredding pile (I'll have to do something else with that since my shredder broke), filing papers away and all those other bitty jobs which take time tomorrow while she's out at school. Then it should just be a case of drag the dusters and henry around the place. I think I best do my room before she gets home as I have some gifts already stashed in there.
Right, I'm off to bed. I'll post a list in the morning. Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0  Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0
