Sat/Sun 21st/22nd November - What small DFW things will you do this weekend?

*Free coffees in Waitrose where we called in to price up turkeys.
*Picked up their free paper for the competition. Contains vouchers for 50p off fresh cranberries & same for blueberries. Shan't use as cheaper on local market but could be useful for somebody.
A nice little thingvthis morning. Got my £2.50 ready to go & buy a Big Issue from our local seller & it was a special festive edition at £3. He said 'If that's too much, it's ok, you can have it for £2.50'. I said I didn't begrudge anyone 50p, except big tax-dodging companies & of course paid him the full amount.
Mr f is absolutely raring to go with turning the pantry out & is talking about doing the freezer too.
F x2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!0 -

I often charge my phone from the laptop. May as well, if it's on anyway. Also use in-car charger when out & about.2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.

Bit of a late check in from me, lots of fab stuff on here and ideas, so nice to see th thread so busy
well I've have an unplanned very productive day/ weekend
Sold 2/3rds of stuff I took to sale yesterday. Not sure until next week how much I've made but it's all a bonus. Plus happŷ with the de cluttering. There was a charity collecting donations at the end so I put a few things to them too
Was on a roll, so today I sorted through rest of stuff and labelled it up to go away, plus got out DD2 next size and packed away her old size for sale in March
Plus 3 bags for charity shop and 1 for recycling of other clothes/toys
Sorted toy boxes and got a bag of rubbish and bag for CS/sale just need to go through when smells aren't around to reclaim anything
Listed some things on fleabay and local selling page
Responded to request on FB page for a fire, proceeded to take off wall in case. She's going to let me know later. If not I'll list anyway
Took down big desk and stripped wallpaper off wall. (Well pulled it and it came off - took about 2 minutes, if only it was always that easy :rotfl:)
DH checked out how it would be to replace lights - now have a plan
Took curtains and pole down from dining room, we never draw them and they're not nice (in house when we moved in) pole in bin, curtains added to CS bag. Room looks about twice the size
Will check banking in a bit and may PAD to CC if I can
Did go our for breakfast but from budget and got 3rd off, haven't eaten again. Just done smalls cheap basic pizza that I spruced up with some left over cheese from yesterday's packed lunch and a slice of ham. We'll have a light supper later.
Make packed lunch for tomorrow
Think that's all, off to think about how craft I'd like to be. But in reality I don't have a crafty bone at all :rotfl:0 -
Afternoon all
Sunday thriftiness as follows.....
1. I went to the cinema with my mum and booked online to get a discount
2. But then my dad had actually given my mum the money to pay for it so it was free for me :-)
3. On-street parking free on a Sunday
4. Lidl are selling slipper socks for £2.49 so I bought two pairs to keep my feet toasty warm (although DS2 has already stolen some!) and used DS1's employee discount card so the two pairs cost £4.50.
5. Also stocked up on my work's snack stash and drinks for the week so I shouldn't need to go near the shops this week (also with 10% discount)
6. Giving Lidl's £1.99 Mascara a try (also with 10% discount)
7. Second day in a row that I haven't bought anything off Amazon...
8. Internet banking / spreadsheet / spends notebook updated...
9. Pork joint cooked in the slow cooker instead of the gas oven.
10... Oh no, I can't think of anything! I really wanted to be in double figures tooEmergency savings: £0 saved / £4000 target0 -
What ive done today- my Weekly shop £10.10 all lunches and dinners for a week, purchased the following:
lunches for the week- bag of jacket potatos and tinned tuna (tesco economy everything)
dinners for the week- chicken seasoning, chicken thighs x8 in a pack, tinned kidney beans and pack of cherry tomatoes (again cheapest priced in tesco)
extras- watermelon pieces 4 for £1.50 and a 5p bag
Hopefully no spending on food except for my travel for this week (fingers crossed!) Already have a large bag of rice at home/frozen veg from Lidl to pad out the dinners if they look a bit on the small side!0 -
Oh I feel like a different human being when I get some time out of the house on my own to do my own thing. 3 hours with bestie, traipsing round town and finishing Christmas shopping and I'm ready to face the world again - even though it was manic in town and really busy. It was just me and her, no kids, no stress, no depressed husband, no work.crazy_cat_lady wrote: »
