Hi all
Well done Candy, sounds exciting.
I seem to be one of the few people around these forums who is hopeless at knitting, sewing or anything remotely crafty. So I have huge admiration for anyone who can make things!
And we got completely ripped off by the insurance company when we bought our new car. We sold the old one privately so had to pay a fee to add the new car and change the old car to third party only then another fee to cancel the insurance when we sold it. Very annoying.
Well I went Christmas shopping yesterday. For the first time in my life I stayed on budget and only bought exactly what I had planned to buy. Boy was it hard though, finding £5 or £10 gifts that had some thought behind them. I am so happy with what I did buy though and absolutely nothing will be bought on credit this year.
Freezing here. We are using the open fire and stove and burning some free wood that OH was given. DS and OH spent most of one Sunday chopping it and stacking it weeks ago and I am so glad that they did. DS has footie later so I need to think about meals, we are a bit short on supplies.
Have a good Sunday everyone x0 -
Morning Campers,
Brrrrrr. Very icy cars this morning. Time to make sure mr f puts the snow ahovel, scraper & de-icer in the boot as hebdoes a fair bit of mileage for work.
Today's small things will be:
*Knit more sock. Don't think I can finish these today, but I can try.
*Turn out pantry (joint effort as I can't reach to the back). All my jars of home made preserves will be taken out & sorted & decisions made as to which will be given as gifts, which will be taken to festive family buffet, etc. Any items for using up will be noted at the same time.
*Load washer & set timer for cheap overnight wash.
*Keep downstairs heating off for as long as possible without being too spartan about it if we are really cold.
*Make packed lunch for tomorrow.
*Pull more baby turnips for roast veg.
*Sort out Christmas Card list. Apparently our laptop has eaten it. I want the cards written by early Dec as it saved me a fair bit of postage last year simply by having cards ready for when I saw people.
*Visit town to get photos printed - must measure frames first. Must also stock up on cheapo tape for present wrapping.
*See if WHSmith has any free chocolate coins left (O2 Priorities ap).
*Think about a list of jobs I could realistically expect to get done next week.
Have a nice day, all,

Morning all

I had quite a good night's sleep last night. Not sure what time I went to sleep but I didn't wake up until half past six this morning so I'll call that a result.
Busy day on, but 'me' time is fully included.
get the rest of the family on board with some housework
prepare some veggies and think of some meals to batch cook (thanks for the idea of Shepherd's pie people - I have loads of carrots and leeks)
catch up with bestie. We're meant to be Christmas shopping but I'm just about done so it'll be a wander round for me, and probably a good natter and a cuppa.
do not stress
tutoring
catch up on a bit of telly
minimise heating use (it's not as cold as yesterday)
I've said that I'm going to be busy, but perhaps not as busy as I thought...:pNot giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Hi again everyone :hello:
I've been going round the house thinking of money-making schemes... So far I've found stuff waiting to be returned/refunded... OH bought a saw that he was going to use but now he's not going to use it for the foreseeable future... He tells me it was a good deal so when/if he buys it in future he will need to pay £30 more... I say take the gamble and get the £50 back now!!
Today I need to sort out electricity/gas supplier and car insurance.
Don't think I can bear the thought of paying out for car insurance in one go.
I do have enough cash in the bank to cover it but because I know other big expenses are coming up I just can't bear to hand it over... I know it's failed logic as otherwise I'll be paying their interest for the pleasure of paying it monthly but just can't bring myself to do it... I know I should do it and then next year put money aside each month for it so I have it ready, but I'm finding it so hard to do it!!! What is wrong with me?!!
Money stuff has really had an affect on me this week. Trying not to get overwhelmed by it all.
Keeping up with the small things helps me concentrate on what is working though...
Happy Sunday y'all!

La E - I know what you mean about paying car insurance all in one go. I always used to pay it monthly for that very reason, but now it has reduced quite considerably in price - achieved by having the policy in my name as I'm a few years older than mr f - I do pay it annually now, though not without wincing as I do so! Overall, it's nice to get rid of a monthly payment & to know that you haven't been stung by the interest, but it depends on the amount.

Morning all

Frosty start here (brrrr when doing the chickens this morning ) but the sun is starting to come through now
Yorkshire lass, you are not the only one - I can't knit, sew or do anything remotely crafty either
My mum was a fabulous knitter, who designed her own patterns, and she tried to teach me, but unfortunately I didn't inherit her talent (or patience)
List for me today:
Trip to Mr S, as OH needs to get some bits to take away on his trip tomorrow, and I need ingredients for Christmas puddings. I will use a voucher towards this
HM meals - cold chicken, jacket potatoes and salad for dinner tonight
Think about a pantry and freezer inventory as the one I have is very out of date. This might have to be done over 2 days though, one each day. Like Mrs F, I have lots of HM preserves, and the larder is stuffed!
Wrap GD's birthday present - I got her a cute little outfit, dress and leggings so very practical
Look out some suitable items for my sales unit next week (my stock is mostly stored in boxes stacked on top of one another, so this is a bit of a mission) and clean them if needed
Bit of paperwork for my business
Check banks, and make sure there is money in the account that OH uses, as he will be away next week. He won't spend much as he will be staying in a cottage in the middle of nowhere, but just in case he needs it...
Check coin pot, to see if there is enough of any one denomination to bag up to pay into the bank - I need to go tomorrow anyway to bank some money from one of OH's sales items yesterday
Well, I am sure there is more, so will check back later to update. Hope everyone has a good day

Morning all - Well afternoon!
Me and the OH had a lovely lay in this morning - 11am! Lovely! Not going out today, planning to stay in my PJ's all day, until I shower tonight and put on a clean pair! Hehe
Today I'll be:
- Checking online banking - Payday tomorrow but I've not received my payslip tomorrow so that will be a surprise!
- Do surveys
- Check Swagbucks
- See if there's anything I can list on Ebay
- Do some more wedding planning - We are getting married in July next year and as we have been saving for so long since our engagement we can pay for it all without needing to use credit! *Happy dance*
I think that's about all, oh and try and stick to healthy eating! Have a good lazy Sunday all!
