Winter Fuel Payment

  • I guess I'll be checking my bank account hopefully - but I don't think I'll be getting mine this year from my reading of their website.

I have passed my revised State Pension Age - but think I'm counted out on a technicality for this year (ie needing to be not just State Pension Age - but also born before a certain date and I cant fulfil the second requirement).

I had a bottle of champagne when I finally reached that darn revised SPA of mine and think I shall use my £10 Christmas bonus payment to buy myself another bottle early next year to celebrate going from "nearly full State pension age" to "full State pension age" (as - once everyone has received their 2015 winter fuel allowance - then I will know that next time that money is paid out, then I will get mine too).

Prior to this year, my husband received the £200, but this year as I'm now in receipt of the State Pension (as from July) I've received the first £100, but we're still awaiting his payment.

I assume it should arrive within the next few days (I've also had a letter; he hasn't.)
A cunning plan, Baldrick? Whatever it was, it's got to be better than pretending to be mad; after all, who'd notice another mad person around here?.......Edmund Blackadder.

Last year Mrs dzug's and mine arrived about 10 days apart

This year her letter arrived last Friday and the money went in today - my letter (and money) has yet to come

So it can be more than a day or two.

My husband's payment was received today, but no letter yet

We pay this money into our bills account, so it's ready to pay whatever bills are received, whether fuel or not

Probably using up old stock of paperwork.

As long as calling the old 0845 number results in hearing a recorded message telling callers to hang up and re-dial the new 0345 number, then there's no real issue - especially if the call to the 0845 number incurs no charges.
