Last year mine arrived on the 27th Nov. This year it will be a bit more. £150 for me. Trouble is, there are so many charities in need of help and funds. I've got a coal fired stove running 6 radiators and we use it for a big delivery of coal0

Well done. I think that's just the kind of thing it was originally meant for.
We pay for fuel by direct debit monthly, evened out over the year. Winter, summer, same monthly payment. I'm also putting extra into savings. It seems to be coming closer, the day when DH's leg can no longer be treated with antibiotics - repeated flare-ups of the infection which nearly killed him in 2008, every few weeks this year. He's been trying hard to avoid above-knee amputation, but....

Am all for it, Farway, but cold is only one killer of OAP's. How do they work it out ? What about those dying from the heat, like those poor souls in Spain, wherever.0
