I used contactless in Tesco in Edinburgh today, first time I've seen it enabled in there. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0

Has the greyed out option only just become available at your local store? I ask because Tesco say on Twitter that all stores now have up to date software and its just a case of rolling out the hardware.
2. I hadn't looked for it before.
3. I usually spend more than £30 at Tesco Batley, last week was an exception.
4. I've been using Morrisons, Lidl and Aldi for TSB cashback.
Doesn't help much, sorry.0 -

Which store was this? Thanks.0 -

I've used the Tesco (Toton) and Tesco (Mickleover) stores for the last three-four years and the contactless option has been present (but disabled).
Seeing as the Edinburgh Tesco mentioned above is a Tesco Express (?) I would imagine they are focusing on the smaller branches first.
You'll know when contactless is possibly on it's way as Tesco use the Igenico IPP350 terminal (you'll have likely seen them in Morrison's and Sainsbury's as well as Asda). It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -

If you're talking about the Tesco I mentioned it's not an express, it's a big store. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -

My apologies-I used Tesco's store locator and it came up as a Tesco Express!
Good to see one of the larger stores is now contactless. It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -

Thanks gunsandbanjos. This was the store I was referring to in earlier an earlier post in this thread so not another to Edinburgh list!
20aday - there is an Express on Great Junction Street; the superstore at the bottom of Leith Walk is actually on Duke Street but it's very close to Great Junction Street.0 -
If it's of any help, the small Tesco stores (Metro and Express) often sell Tesco gift cards that can be loaded with any amount up to £200 and spent in any Tesco store including petrol stations.
I have been buying 3x £30 and 1x £10 gift card, put through as separate transactions, in the local Tesco Metro each month. I can then pay with contactless and earn the £5 TSB cashback, just using the gift cards to do my normal shopping in the nearby Tesco Extra who still haven't got contactless terminals fitted.0
