We really need some pics but it sounds like its been slashed. Is there ANY sign of dirt around it? Any dirt inside the cut? Is it a shallow cut? Any marks on the alloy near the cut? Any cuts on the inside of the tyre?0

I have seen slashed tyres before I am certain this is not slashed. I tried but could not upload pics directly from mobile, can't connect mobile to computer at work so I will try and upload some pics this evening from home.Marriage is hard. Divorce is hard. Choose your hard.

no one can say anything till its had an inspection
as said dont drive on it and be aware if it is a casing problem it could blow out and kill you whilst you are removing it

i used to sell tyres, they need to be treated as unexpoloded bombs if they have a fault whether manufacturing fault or kerbing fault0 -
Possibly deflate it carefully before removing?
The inflator on my compressor has a little pressure release button which is very handy (it's intended to let the air out if you over inflate a bit), so you can do it without standing in front of the tyre.
I suspect the garage ones will have something similar, as the one I use is basically a cheap version of the sort used in garages.0 -
We had someone slashing tyres nightly round here.
It was an angry militant anti car cycle nutter, he was caught red handed, but unfortunately by two builders and not the police.
The builders were found not guilty of common assault and actual bodily harm by a jury majority.I do Contracts, all day every day.0 -

Just read your post mate, removed the wheel earlier this morning without deflating - survived due to sheer dumb luck I supposewill try to be more careful in future.

Any chance this is simply some very thin flaps of rubber from the original moulding, and therefore absolutely nothing to worry about?!0
