Sorry you had a rubbish day yesterday, bossy. (((Hugs)))
We must have been on the southern edge of the snow last night. I did see a few flakes, it went very cold and the garage roof was temporarily white (which is good news re the insulation) but there is nothingto show for it this morning. However, the biting wind is back.
I'm out for the day at a conference; going straight from there to DDiL2 and DGS3+4 to cook tea and help with bathtime for the boys - DS2 is away for the weekend. I'm travelling by train and bus so that DH can have the car to get to somewhere else this afternoon, then he's coming over to join us for tea and bring me home. When we get back I've got to prepare all the food for tomorrow when one of our German friends is visiting.
Yesterday DH managed to arrange for a replacement for his bus pass and also his rail pass, which was in in the same wallet that he lost last Saturday. It has cost him nearly £50 - maybe that will teach him to be more careful  And the car might need a new tyre today
Hope everyone has a good day x
And a final reminder that today is your last chance to sign up for the

Morning everyone!
We've had a teeny tiny bit of snow!
I'm feeling productive after about two weeks of nothing. Yesterday good, after the paid stuff I did all the dailies plus general tidy up, wiping of the worst dusty bits, and turned the matress, stripped and changed bed, plus flung a lot of carp that was under the bed.
Today it the first day in ages when it is not going to rain, so I can get in the garden and sweep leaves, as I think they are all down now. We have loads of trees in the garden and up the drive, so this is a big job. Apart from that, I need to do all the daily stuff, take the dog out and do lots of ironing, my nemesis.
mumto5 take it easy x
LW I'm currently trying to talk
OH out of a new TV, we really really don't need one, but he is getting insistent!0 -
Morning all
Bossy that's the spirit my love, same weather as you here.
Lynne hope you're feeling more yourself soon
Cats caught a rat in the night, blood and cat vomit to deal with this morning, nice. Still they caught a big one.
Spoke to SIL last night, she has got engaged, they are all coming ours at some point between Christmas and New year. Leaving my sis to calm down after her dramatic texts yesterday.
Off for a shower and to the town, need to try to find boots to wear tonight, not easy with my feet. Good news though that DS3 wanted new shoes for tonight (only has sports shoes and school shoes) and a pair which DS2 had and only wore twice fit lovely so that is money and time saved. DS1 coming over later, he has two new suits that need the troussers shortening.
Any laundry will need to be dried indoors, it is rather wintery out there! The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
Bless me flyladies, for I have sinned.........the house is a pit, and I am trying to get the house on the market before the CF gets my perfect credit score through the mincer, while fixing all the half finished DIY and mismatched oods and soods.........and the long dreamt about hysterectomy to send my decrepit baby bag to hell is almost here......so come the new year, I will be ready to fly again in earnest.
I have no idea where I will be moving to, what size house/bungalow/flat/tent I will have, so we are engaging in a major declutter to a lock up facility for now. Then we can decide as a family, what we need, what we don't to sell, donate, loan or junk.
Funny, I have only been typing a few minutes, and I already feel less isolated........it's nice to be home!
Currently the living room is off limits after plastering the CF wire routing projects, we have a leaning Tower of Sofas at one end, all the cabinets in the middle, and all the innards of the cabinets stacked on the leaning Tower of Sofas.......new living room carpet is on order, but isn't ready yet.
Kitchen is semi functional, plastering is curing off, but no lighting in there.....my standard lamp blew up the other day and is out on the back patio to be junked, so running off a naff bedside lamp until my sparky I have booked has free time to sort out a million and one jobs. In need of a really good clean as there are plaster splashes everywhere including for some reason in the feet of the kitchen cabinets
Pit of Doom has been painted lilac and purple with a neutral carpet, just invested in a new mattress and umpteen mattress protectors so I can't ruin it before Thursday, just curtain poles to be drilled and curtains hung, and it's almost market ready.
DD1 old room WAS market ready, until every item of clothing was washed at Launderette to give me a helping hand was dumped in there. One new picture to hang on the wall, and quick clean and it's market ready again
DD2/DS room is due to be painted and freshened up.......major declutter has already taken place in there, but just has my Plasma from PoD, and my two reclining armchairs in there, which I can't lift
DD4 room is 80% market ready, bought some new handles for cupboards, new lightshade, bedside lamp, need to hang picture. Just need to find somewhere that has Peppa Pig curtains in stock......then I can sign that room off as market ready.
The dining room has plaster curing off , but is currently being used as the gibble sorting room, the floor and table are covered with boxes so as gibble makes its way down, like a postie flinging letters in a frame, we fling like with like in the appropriate boxes........then once every room has been decluttered, they can all go off down the lock up and the final touch ups can be done.
DD3 room/PC room, this room has got back to market ready so many times, but currently it is a pit again ........currently housing the cat castles - yes, we now have 3 fur babies, cushions for sofas, a few half started gibble boxes, pushchairs and a few other bits........one wall needs to be turned into a feature wall with paint due to DD4 scribbles on the wall
Floor in landing has had another section crumble, so needs to be fixed before the carpet is ready.
Main bathroom was market ready until towel rail fell down......again........just needs a good thorough clean - oh yes, and I need to change bathroom hooks from a two hook to 4 hook, so it looks less cluttered.
Ensuite bathroom, the plaster and screeding is almost cured, the plumber comes next week to start tiling in between his other jobs, all the materials needed to complete are here, bar new flooring for the ensuite.
Down stairs toilet is 90% market ready, my painter is going to neaten up the edges where I painted it 3 year ago when I was heavily pregnant with DD4 and paint the window in there as it's not going to be double glazed by me as it's not an external window.
Porch needs to have a really good clean inside and out, a quick lick of paint and be "staged" - so this "room" is nowhere near ready.
Utility has mostly been de-gibbled, needs a thorough clean, a couple of days with the dehumidifier and a quick lick of paint.
Log cabin one, has a lot of stuff to be dragged to garage and is a long long way from being dressed ready for sale.
Log cabin two has become a dumping ground for anything belonging to CF, so if I can't see it, I can't be upset by it
The shed and garage, well we will have to see about what happens in there 0% market ready in there
I have treated the house to some new sheets to make the rooms look better so I am going to start on that, SLOWLY. Then sit on the floor and wrap up all the bits the big girls have for presents to take back to Uni, wrap and hide the kids new toy stuff.
Slowly slowly, I will get everything straight, but being market ready by 15th December is going to be a bit of a big stretch.
Right of I go.......anyone fancy HH- Wrapping with me?The cold never bothered me anyway0 -
I'm going to attempt to join in. House is a tip because a. it's still being renovated (which will be ongoing for years due to cash-flow requirements) and b. work (spend about 30% + of my time travelling). However, I have nothing on this weekend, so hope to get the place back under some kind of control again. It would also be nice to get the grass cut if it dries out enough, then I can send the mower off to be serviced over the winter.
Bathroom is half done (this is the one room that is finished). Cleaned the bath and shower thoroughly (although I need to work out how to clean the shower drain), so just the loo, basin and floor to go. Then my bedroom and ensuite as they haven't been done since the builder finished the last round of dust-making...
When I've done those, I think I'll go out and get some fresh air before tackling the next bit!0 -
Progress report
Bathroom scrubbed
Beds made
Wm on
DW loaded
Worktops wiped
One hundred million leaves raked and only about another two hundred million to go.
Breaking for lunch0 -
Oh everybodies coming home for Christmas.
Skinty that is so odd I was thinking about you this morning after my shower, no idea why and then you post within 30 minutes - I must be some kind of witch!
Greenbee lovely to see you too, was thinking of you last week as it is a year since our lovely day out.
Been to town, complete failure but got the advent calendars and a couple more bits for the stockings.
Going to have a cuppa then DS1 should turn up, I'll look at his trousers and then maybe pop back out to different shops. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
Haven't read back. Just totally fed up today and need some encouragement! I work almost full time, and feel like I spend all my time trying to get the house sorted, but never get more than the basics done so it never improves. Just shattered and fed up of a messy house.0
-
We're expecting a full house and Crimbo too. Well, there'll always be one missing, I guess
Great to "see" you skinty xx
It's bright but still chilly so we are in, watching despicable me, and I'm going to teach myself crochet :rotfl: DS is playing on an old leapfrog thing and DD has a Crimbo activity pad - lol gramps was here this morning and she was doing puzzles with him, he was amazed, the book is for 7-10yr olds. That's my girl!
I might shove a wash on. I've cleaned windows upstairs this morning - they were all drippingso I wiped them down and gave them a polish. That's all I've done today. I'll go stick a uniform wash on, actually.
Really need to get the vac out later. And bath small people before the dancing is on - we missed baths last night...
Right, laundry then I'm going to tie myself in a wooly knot...Bossymoo
Away with the fairies :beer:0 -
doobop I feel like this most of the time - and I only work 22 hrs, but with two children, a dog and the house being done up there just aren't enough hours in the day. Don't worry, just do what you can.
Progress.
Ten million more leaves raked. Half the garden done, and a bit of the drive. Will do the rest tomorrow, weather permitting, as I've lost the enthusiasm. I am now going to do some ironing. Hooray!0
