hi ive been hovering around this thread for months now and i finally applied .I was just wondering , i currently receive working tax credit for working over 30 hours. If as stated in a previous post they only contract you for part time hours ,would i still get wtc as long as im doing 30 hrs or more with teletech and is 30 hrs available? I currently work in a call centre and have applied for sales position.

You should still be able to receive your WTC as long as you are doing your 30 hrs per week or more. However, the 4 week training period is normally 20 hrs for 4 weeks, so not sure whether you need to inform WTC that your hours have been reduced for this period or what happens. I think WTC part-time hours is assumed to be less than 30 but I am not sure - why don't you go onto to their website and put your details and proposed hours into their eligibility checker - or even phone them for information. icon7.gif

Hi - hope there is a kettle, coffee and mug in your office too lol. Not sure whether you have it - but a noticeboard would be handy to keep a note of telephone numbers we need to give customers and any other important stuff which you may need to consult. I tried just having loads of papers on my desk - but the noticeboard is far better.

Have you tried running your workbooth cd yet - it may be an idea to load it onto your computer, close your computer down and then restart computer for workbooth to load - it will give you an idea of the time you need to allow when logging in for training and work. I always allow at least 20 mins to load up all the necessary applications for work. Another tip- everyone will be trying to get into workbooth and meetingplace at same time and this can cause some delays (this is from experience)- I used to try and log in about 30 mins earlier and make sure I got in ok - then went for a coffee before starting.
Hope you enjoy yourself -sometimes the information is daunting during first few weeks - but stick with it -it really does come together once you are on calls.

oh is anyone else a bit surprised that after the 12 week probationary period you still have to wait 90-120 days before you can book holiday.
Correct me if I am wrong but that is 6-7 months from the start of work!

I was thinking about getting a board so I can put all the numbers on so I might get one from your advice :)
I have run the CD and got to the big yellow flower do I need to do more than that? I have also run the cisco meeting place thing and I got 3 green ticks but not connecting to server but I have read that is because I am not signed in etc? I have a ID number but have not used it in workbooth yet I assume I do that once I start training.

Erm who told you that as it's the first I've heard of it. You are not supposed to take time off during your training period but you are not stopped from booking holidays for 120 days after your probationary period ends.

They do not like anyone taking time off during training, nesting and probation (although I was off on holiday for my last week of probation). However, you can request leave after probation - but you will only get paid the holiday money you have accrued so far - e.g if you get 25 days paid holidays for the year - you may only get 3 days holiday pay if you take them too soon - does this make sense:confused: Basically - you can apply for holidays before the 6-7 months but you may not get paid for them.

well it says in the contract you can't take holiday for 90-120 days also when speaking to my recruiter she said it was from the end of training!!!
Maybe there has been some confusion? maybe it is from the start date! will double check

PaulK- although I did not tell her this - I do think there is something in our hire pack that says something like that -I have not got mine to hand to check but I remember something along those lines - as we all know - you can take holidays (after probation) but you may not get two weeks pay if you take two weeks holiday so soon after joining. Must get my hirepack out again and go over it lol
