Thanks guys that definitely helps. The guy I spoke to at technical support has emailed me since the phone call and said he is sending me a Belkin adapter.

I just wonder how long they take to arrive..Obviously I want to get one asap so I can make sure it works. I might just buy one tomorrow unless some one can confirm that theirs arrived quickly!

Not long til training now..:p

Can someone who already is in the role please help me understand the holiday situation? I've just recieved my hirepack and it seems wrong to me.

It says that if you work 40 hours or more a week you get 25 days and this is pro rata'd for part timers. This would mean I would get 13 (ish) days a year. Surely if you work 5 days a week at fulltime then you get 25 days fulltime holiday pay, but if you work 5 days at part time then you get 25 days part time holiday pay? This is how it worked in my previous employment.

Also, public holidays are mentioned, but not Bank Holidays - I don't mind working them, but what is the pay situation?

Hi- the only public holidays we were told we got was Christmas Day, New years day and Easter (not sure whether monday or sunday) but if these were your scheduled days for work then you would be expected to work them unless you applied for leave. We don't get bank holidays as far as I am aware - there have been 3 bank holidays since I started in April and we had to work them at normal rates - we did question this and were told it is not law that you get them.

I had to get a Belkin adapter too and mine had to come from America as Belfast did not have any in stock - it came by Fed Ex and took 5 days (but it was ordered on a Friday and I got it on the Wednesday which ain't too bad)

Furthermore to the question re bank and public holidays - we were referred to the direct gov website which gives the following info
Public and Bank Holidays

You do not have a statutory right to paid leave on bank and public holidays. If paid leave is given on a bank or public holiday, this can count towards your minimum holiday entitlement. There are eight permanent bank and public holidays in Great Britain (ten in Northern Ireland).
If you work on a bank or public holiday, there is no automatic right to an enhanced pay rate. What you get paid depends on your contract of employment.

• Auddel, how does the pro rata holiday work? Do you get 25 days at your part time rate?

Daffodil,
You get 12-13 days holiday part time, all agents are contracted in at part time, even if you had the overtime and extra shifts upto 40 hrs you are still classed as part time.
I wouldnt worry too much about the holidays as they arent really worth the paper theyre written on in my personal opinion. You apply for a day of as long in advance as you like but TeleTech will only provide an answer whether you have been approved for the holiday or not within 48 hours of the requested date. So not too good if you are planning things! i think in certain circumstances though you can get your team leader to chase them up and find out sooner. The best method by far to get a day off is to arrange a shift swap with another agent for the day that you need.

Hey Auddel glad to see you've sprung back to life recently with all the q's from the new group!

Not quite correct, you can book time off X days in advance (I just did and got confirmation back within 72 hours of asking) BUT if TT cannot guarantee you getting the dates off as others have the time off already they then state the 48 hour period. This means that if you or someone else can sort it out by that time you will get the holiday, if not you don't. Remember RTOs are first come, first served and must not impact service levels for the customer and are taken accross all TT@H sites for that contract.
• So it's 12-13 days at full time rate is it? Otherwise they are applying pro rata rates to the days worked AND the hours worked, which isn't right (nor is it legal!!)

I have a holiday booked from 27th May next year which is 15 days long. They've said that won't be a problem as it is already booked.

If you work for example 20hrs a week and you take a week off
as holiday you get paid for 20hrs.

I dont have my contract to hand right now but its all clear in there
• Oliver, could you tell me if you get 25 days at 20 hours a week off or 12/13 days at 20 hours a week? It isn't clear in the contract I have here. It looks as if you get 12/13 days at 20 hours but I'm sure I must be reading it wrong as that is a breach of your statutory employment rights.
