Is that not what you do for most jobs? Ok you might not have to upgrade your PC, but in my expereince you have to do assessments, wait to find out if your successful and then wait for a start date. Even after all that you don't know if it's going to be worth it, but you go through it anyway because it's what you want to do, no-one is giving any guarantees.

I think it's positive that people are willing to upgrade their PC's for this job. Do you mean to tell me if PC was not upto scratch you would give in at the first hurdle?

Anyway, suppose everyone is different. In my expereince with teletech, a few hours worth of assessment and a few phone calls could make my life alot easier so I for one aint fussed about "knowing if it will all be worth it"

By 'worth it' I meant whether it would pay enough for one to consider it at all. But I suppose as most have pointed out its the convenience of working from home that seems to appeal more than the money. I still feel £6 per hour is very low though unless its catalogue orders. If its a mortgage call centre or giving IT support of any kind I'm fairly sure that normally pays around £8 per hour even if going via an agency. I remember being paid £7 an hour for answering phones about 6 years ago.

Having said that it sounds very good for at home Mums.

It isn't worth it to some...it is worth it to others-only you can decide if it is worth it TO YOU-just like any other job !!! I can earn a lot more in other industries -but I don't want to commute -don't want to spend my precious free time travelling etc. I certainly don't want to work in a bricks and morter call centre where I have to ASK to go to the loo ! I'd rather have a job where I'm treated like a grown up ! I appreciate I'm fortunate that as I have a teeny mortgage that I don't need to earn a massive amount and that gives me choices. I can afford to be picky and not choose a job on earnings alone-and I learned a long time ago that how much I earn is no reflection on who I am !! :)
Hang out for perfection when job hunting and you can be a long time unemployed though. No job is going to tick all the boxes-it's a matter of which ticks the ones that really matter to you personally.
The whole POINT of Teletech isn't that it pays extraordinarily well-look elsewhere if that's what you want-it's all about work/life balance. I work with people who do it as their sole job, others it's a second job, still others are studying and for some it's a way of keeping updated in the workforce whilst raising children and are planning to go back fulltime later-we all have different motivations and reasons.
Personally I feel I'm treated well-I get to work the hours that suit me and my particular family needs (personally I don't think it's ideal for people with very young children though) and leaves me time free to do all the other stuff I want to do.
Honestly from what you've written it may NOT be the job for you-sounds to me you'd be happier with a more conventional work enviroment -and that isn't a criticism -just a fact that different ways of working suit different people better .
<waves at Paul> Two weeks of peace and quiet with me away-enjoy !! :D Las Vegas here I come

    jazz26,

i have sent off disclosure and paperwork over a week ago. i checked my emails this morning and had'nt received any email about the training. so about 2 hours ago i emailed Amy. then about half hour ago i got the training details in an email.

if you dont get an email in the next hour or so why not email whoever your agent is.

I wouldn't wait, email them as soon as possible in case something has been missed, at least then you know you have done your stuff and have reminded them too.

Notice he didn't say "See you on the dark side" ;)
Best advice for training is take loads of notes-and enjoy it. I found the training fun as well as quite hard work retaining all the info (see above about notes :))
    Good luck everyone
