Thanks Oliver - Had Ellen on today who got someone from tech team to phone me straight back - he went through the whole workbooth cd set up etc and still had same error messages even when we went into reconfiguring things- workbooth is recognising the ethernet card but for some reason cannot connect to it (beyond me!!) he said that they would get a Belkin adapter sent our from uk HQ's right away. He phoned back 10 mins later to say that none of the Teletech offices in UK have them anymore and he is emailing me details of another adapter which is suitable and available here. Once I get the details I will post them here as it may be helpful to some others.

For anyone that needs a Belkin adapter for their workbooth cd to run - apparently they are no longer available in UK and none of the Teletech Offices in UK have them either. I was given details of another ethernet card adapter from the tech team which can be found at -

However, they are out of stock at moment and although they only cost £9.99 they are charging £19.99 to post to northern Ireland, which seems to be a bit excesive considering it is only £4.99 to post in mainland.

Yeah you should be fine then, I order a few things from
America and 3-5 working days is about right for their equivalent
of airmail, let us know how you get on.

did you manage to try it on the other laptop you had?
• Got the email from the trainer today. Carlos will be the sales trainer. Have to point something out though guys. On my first interview Amy said that the actual job would be 19 hours per week. On second interview Mike said this had been changed to 22 hours per week. On the email today you have to reply and agree to do 25 hours per week. Am slightly miffed that they keep changing the goal posts about this - after all 5 hour shifts in the evening when you have a family is a long time (i did this in a call centre so i know this). But needs must and i have emailed the trainer to ask for confirmation of the hours they want - i dont want to go all the way through training to be told it has gone up again as this would make it impossible for me.
Anyway moan over lol! am still looking forward to training starting on Monday just needed to have a whinge!
• Hi Specsappeal , I got the same email with the hours and I too was a bit miffed. When you get a reply let me know what they say . A 4 hour shift would have suited me fine !
• When Carlos gets back to me i will post the response. I was really pleased with 19 hours too. There may be occassions that i could have worked longer shifts and would do so happily its just the way they keep putting them up without notifying you first. The bit on the email that made me giggle was that you had to agree to be free monday to sunday from 9am to 11pm - they dont want much do they lol!

At least we aren't the only ones! I see a couple of people from the current group out of nesting are also miffed at this type of thing.
We were asked at interview when we were able to work from but never when til. I specifically asked not to work weekends. After training which as others has said was a shambles we recieved our hours. Every day I was placed on until 11pm at night and working both weekend nights! Others have had the same problems. We did not know they worked so late we assumed it would be similar to training hours. Ie - finishing 930pm.I tried for the past 2 weeks to get this sorted! I spoke to my TL, emailed the hour setter lady and hounded both regularly. And nothing. One of our team had a broken disk and even now is still waiting for a new one in the post. This means she can't work! She has been out of action for over a week now. She has rang technical help, the sickline daily, emailed her TL even spoken to her recruiter and nothing!

Back to the training issue. I found the trainer a great laugh he entertains you well with singing and alsorts. Great fun and yes that is needed in any training group to lighten it up a bit. But he took it to the extreme. 30 minutes pass at a time, mounting up to many hours of "missed" learning time!We were told we would cover things many times so those who were left behind were reassured yes we would cover this again. But we didn't. The trainer also took to lying about toilet breaks. The whole group were told there were no breaks until out designated lunch break. Which maybe 4 hours long ... Once this had been taken to a level higher than him by another member for clarification he came down on the group like a ton of bricks. He said he had not said this. Apparently here are some codes to use for the toilet and a certain amount of time. Why were we not informed? We were going live! We would need this!! Why on earth lie about it I will never no ... If he lied about that what else did he lie about?

The last weekend we assumed that we would recap over everything we had rushed through but not we were chucked straight into live calls. Practically half the group left then ... then other half had to muddle with the system that was different to the simulations shown! We were not shown once the real deal!! Keeping customers on hold for 30-60 minutes is very common. This is while you type you question into the chatroom for help. The help guys are great but over run. So somtimes you have to wait for the reply from them whilst your customer is tutting down the phone at you. You are trying not to cry whilst you don't know what the hell you are doing! I'm going to stop here before I get angry. I may post more later...

Oh and don't worry about your contract or CRB some people are working without sending these back for the past 2 weeks! ... Just think 2 weeks working with a criminal conviction that they don't know about. So many customers details you could have got. We should not have been put on live calls until all CRB's were checked!!!

Summary: Bad communication, bad admin but a potentially bloody good job. If you can hack the hours, the technical issues and the horrendous communcation when you have a problem then this is the job for you. Not to mention the stress of keeping the customer on the phone for over an hours ...
• I am sorry to hear that you had some of the same experiences that I had and I hope this demonstrates to others that I was not being melodramatic in what I was saying.

You are quite correct with the toilet breaks, we were told that we had to hold on until scheduled break time. Under no circumstances should you use auxilary was his exact words if I remember correctly.

I felt that they would not sort my shifts out and that was one of the reasons that I was being distracted from what I was doing and the lengthy wait times for help or the short answers were not always the most helpful but you could see they were doing their best.

By the sounds of it, your friend must be feeling relief of not working lol.
