Auddel, have you actually said what error you get when trying
    to run the test?

And can you just confirm your now connected with the ethernet
cable direct to the router and you have also turned the wireless
connection off on the laptop, to prove you can browse the net ok over
the ethernet cable just incase its still using the wireless connection.

HI Oliver27- I do have wireless which I normally use, but for this workbooth I was definately connected by ethernet cable directly to my BT home hub. I did turn of my wireless button and was able to surf the internet ok. I also turned of my firewall just in case. I checked my ethernet card which is a NVIDIA nForce Networking controller. the error message i get when do the workbooth cd test is -DCHP-unable to obtain IP address. I am running windows vista and firefox.

Ok thanks for that info auddel, it does sound like the workbooth
cd doesn't have compatible drives for your laptops network adaptor

the easiest option will be on of the Netgear/Belkin usb to ethernet
adaptors as we know these definitely work.
  • hey, one of the people ffrom my class also needed to get the belkin adapter.
as fasr as im aware, these are no longer available int he uk.

but the tech guys from tt can order one for you and post it over.

*edit* just been on amazon, and there is a couple of different usb - ethernet adapters there. they would probably work...

Just to update you on my saga with my error message when trying to do the test with the workbooth cd -error message -DCHP- unable to obtain IP address. The Belkin adapter does not appear to be available anymore in the UK - PC world were amazed that I would even want one when I could access the internet ok anyway - even when explained in detail what it was for they were very patronising and basically told me I am mistaken and do not need a new card. Then went to a small local computer shop were I had my 10m ethernet cable ordered from and although they did not have any Belkins or netgear (they also told me you cant get the Belkin adapter anymore) at least they tried to help me. To cut a very long and boring story short - they give me a usb ethernet card to try at home (It did say it supported Linux) without taking the money for it!!! but alas -guess what - I still get the exact same error message. Perhaps I am being a bit silly but if it is saying that they are unable to obtain my IP address - is there something on my computer that is perhaps 'hiding' it and that needs disabled? clutching at straws here but training day is looming and live call cannot help and i have yet had no reply from tech team- HELP

Hi the group online meeting basically tells you about the company etc and then at then end, if you still interested, they make arrangements for your interview. There is normally two interviews, the second one is with one of the managers. they are quite informal- asking you why you want to work from home, the set up of where you are going to work, i.e, if it quiet etc. they may also ask you questions such as, 'tell me an instance were you had to......'. but dont worry, they were the most informal 'interviews I have ever had. the first training starts on Monday 14th April, which to be honest may be just to near for you to be included as there are other technical tests to do if you are successful. However I do believe there is another training date scheduled for the end of April, so you should manage that one ok. Hope this helps a bit
