I find it quite concerning that an awful number of people seem to know who I am when my details with the company should be confidential and that employees of this company are now jumping into the spot light about this trainer.

I found the bloke as a person, very nice and somebody you could have a pint with but unfortunatley, I found his professionalism to work severely lacking. I am pleased that there are people that have gone through training and done OK with the company as I was purely posting my opinion and experience of what I had gone through.

I did not need the job to be fair, it was a bit of extra play money for me but nothing that was going to make a massive difference to my way of life.

You all seemed to have been trained in the past and maybe my expectations of the training was too high or maybe the trainer was having a bad week or is just using the poor tools that they have been given to the best of their ability.

From the sounds of it, the trainer has has a successful period of doing the job that all you guys are doing and all I would say is that

The best teachers do not make the best head masters and the best nurses or doctors make the best practice or hospital managers.

Seriously, I am not wanting to get into a reputation destroying or ego building argument because my aim for these posts is to just maybe benefit TT by ensuring that peoples expectations are managed at the outset and that they may be expected to try and follow out of date material without full support if they fall behind and that they should expect that they will be let loose on the unsuspecting public with telephony that is constantly crashing (note posts about it happening in the interviews) and also that the shifts you request may not be what you get and if you cannot fit to them then you will be likely to asked to reapply again.

So please do not try to jump on me with the almighty we (TT) are perfect line as no company is perfect. What defines a good company is how they handle their people and issues when they arise and how they balance this with the customers needs.

    mondayblue,
i would agree no company is perfect as is noone.
did you know there are only three trianers who do this course?
from the description of your class, ie singing, i would assume that its the same one.
as fro what i ganed from the training, was the basics, which was enough to now start the job, which as far as im aware, im diong quite well at, according to my supervisor.

I had the same trainer and I certainly didn't find him informative or funny. I didn't have a problem with him. I didn't know him and I wasn't going to suck up to him and pretend that his crued jokes were funny. Maybe its my sense of humour. I wasn't there to be entertained. I was there to be taught about the job and I felt that I didn't get that. I am of the old school network. "You are there to learn, not to f*** around".

im ot talking about sucking up, i wouldnt suck up either.
he emphasied the "fun" aspect of training to us, and the "fun" of the job which most of us thought was godo.

i found the training to be adequate for the role, perhaps 3 weeks wasnt enough for some people?
  • Phew, just had my telephone meeting with Mike ... went alot better than I'd imagined it ... don't think I came across a complete dwithering idiot ... man I hate interviews, they always bring out the worst in me ... ahwell, onwards and upwards .. or summing like that .... maybe I shouldn't have drunk that red bull before the interview either:j:A:D

I don't think anyone has claimed TT are perfect (perhaps I missed a post somewhere).
One of the good things about the job is that provided you follow company policy (what you call scripts) you CAN and most people do personalize and humanize the job as you gain in confidence and knowledge. Maybe you !!!-umed that everything about the job would be taught in training-Perhaps that has been the kind of role you've had in the past ? It isn't that kind of job-it gives you scope to grow-no-one is a robot. As has been said-it doesn't suit everyone but there certainly isn't the culture of moaning and groaning that is common in many call-centres.
I don't understand why you are so angry that people are disagreeing with you-we're all adults-we can have other opinions than yours-although most people have been far more polite in their disagreeing than you have being.

  • I felt three weeks (or should I say 54 working hours - the few nights we finished early and the half sessions one day) was more than adequate for me in terms of learning the job. It probably would have been for the least skilled/knowledgable/familiar technical person.

What is hard about the job, you answer the phone, you follow the cal flow management and escalate if need with notes.

If you eliminate all the fluffy stuff, you could learn the basic skills to do the job in 18hrs if the training material was right and that you cut down on the waiting for people to reboot or lose pace because they couldnt view the online meeting room or TTU.

The telephony systems seem to be still having problems. You may be right in saying you can fight your way the first week with the systems but its no thanks to the training, it is more to do with the support network within the live environment.

Left hand and right hand do not know what they are doing in this company. There has been 2 full days of trying to confirm details with TT following my resignation and the amount of defunct numbers and information provided.

I think I have made my point and people that are considering this job may be better prepared.

I am not trying to rain on anyones parade here but the systems are far from perfect, the training is far from perfect, you do not really need to use your brain in terms of having scope to help people if its not found on call flow.

My original comment remains the same. If you need the extra cash, need to work from home or just need a job then you may see this as a good opportunity but have a read of my posts and keep an open mind.

Company policy is detailed in your contract and handbook. Scripted solutions are on call flow management. There is a difference. Yes, you can personalise it but you have no freedom to really deviate from the script - you still have to say what it says on there, even if it is in your words.

Maybe its you that has assumed here to be fair. I didn't expect to learn everything but nor did I expect for people to be told to shut up when they had questions and could not keep up. In any job that I have been in - I have never once heard a trainer tell a trainee to shut up when they were asking a genuine question about what they were trying to learn. It wasn't me by the way, in case that was not clear.

I also got fed up with the constant mis-use of Data Protection and that certain laws were inapplicable to us because we worked from home.

I am glad to hear that is the case, that said with monitored chat rooms, its difficult to tell me what gets said behind the scenes. I know that there is moaning and dis-satisfaction.
I don't understand why you are so angry that people are disagreeing with you-we're all adults-we can have other opinions than yours-although most people have been far more polite in their disagreeing than you have being.

Please tell me where I have been angry with anybody on here. I have just provided feedback on my experience. There is clear signs of the technology issues and telephony issues for people that haven't even been given the job with interviews being cut short and not being able to attend meetings. I just hope people realise that they will be left behind if that happens in training.

I really hope that people get on with the role and it is probably because of my high standard of work ethics and also the fact that I believe in treating employees with respect and professionalism. Everybody matters in a company.

Honestly I'm not interested in debating this with you. You're simply covering the same ground.
I like the job and you don't-it's hardly earthshattering news than different jobs suit different people.
I hope you DO find a job that suits you soon.

You don't have to do that, you should be contacted with the date. If not ask when you next speak to someone from Teletech.
