It's pretty decent, quite minimal decor, rooms are a good size for London but some of them are starting to look in need of a refurb, there's no Hilton branding so it doesn't feel quite so chain-y as other Hiltons. Having said that I wouldn't pay more than, say, £120/nt for it.0 -
Hello again,
I managed to bag the Raddisson Edwardian Providence Wharf for £55 per night on Top Secret and with 15% voucher (shown on main deals page) for both Friday AND Saturday this weekend. Great deal. I'm now on the hunt for the description of the Hilton Canary Wharf as the folks are coming for the Saturday night. We want to be East End way, but not Hilton Docklands as from past experience it's a little difficult to get to. The Radisson isn't coming up for the Saturday like you said.
One other quick question, is this the description for the Novotel Excell? I've searched through the thread and have seen this one before, but can't track it down again.- A waterside hotel near Canary Wharf, O2 & ExCeL - 4* - London
- Area: London
- Contemporary hotel overlooking the water and ideally situated for Canary Wharf, 02 Arena, ExCeL London

That is the description for Novotel Excel, yes.
The description for Hilton Canary Wharf is "Contemporary hotel at the new business district".
Edit: £111.25 is sounding a little steep so the Novotel might be a better option. There is also "Modern waterfront hotel with health club and pool" which is the Crowne Plaza London Excel at £89 before discount.0 -

Thanks so much, you're ace at this!
Don't seem to be able to find the one for Hilton Canary Wharf on top secret. Search is on still though, so if you find any other good deals I'd be very appreicative.
Thanks again!:j0 -
Hi
Looking for some help from the experts. I am planning on a visit to london on 1st March and trying to find a decent 4/5 star for 1 night. Checked lastminute and even the secret hotels seem to be really expensive. Is ther a reason , maybe some event on this date? Any thoughts would be welcome.
Thanks0 -

Chamberlain Hotel near Fenchurch St is also available (not secret) at £90, it's supposed to be very good.
just a note back to say thanks for your help - ended up getting the Athenaeum for £119 using the 15% code in this weeks MSE mail.
Any idea what type of rooms they usually give you? I assume there are no bad ones in a 5 star hotel?0 -

Good price! When I stayed there at a fairly similar rate I got a very nice room, looked exactly like the pictures on the website, believe it might have even been a deluxe room as the bed looked like a king. You probably won't be overlooking the park though, that costs a little extra.
I don't think the Athenaeum has any particularly bad rooms but you'd be surprised at what some "5-star" hotels have to offer
Tip: generally it pays to politely request a room on a high floor in the request box lastminute gives you. I generally find rooms on higher floors are on average slightly better.0 -

Can't think of any event in particular, it could just be that you're trying to book too far ahead. The best secret hotels deals almost always appear from about a week before your desired date.
However the good old Hilton London Kensington (actually located just by Westfield) is there for its usual price of £81.25, listed as "Upscale property in West London, Kensington". I've stayed there a number of times and have been really impressed with the service, the rooms are quite small but recently refurbished and very fresh.0 -

The Grange Rochester. Rather so-so, I'm not a fan of the Grange family in general and wouldn't say this was one of their best properties. Though if you can get it for £60-65/night or less it might not be too bad value.

Just a general note, there's no need to post in the full hotel details (makes the thread hard to follow) but the title (in this case "Excellent, centrally located hotel in Victoria") is useful as it saves me time looking them up. It also helps by making the answer more google-able.0
