Woohoo! I've finally finished my secret Santa gift :D just got to figure out how the heck I'm going to post it, as got a tad ambitious

Sue! Are you trying to tell me that Christmas does not cover 3 months of the year?? surely you are mistaken! the shops are all telling me I should be celebrating from late September onwards! (Hence the huge Santa in my living room :D)

Really getting desperate for my £2 coin tin now, my poor purse is weighed down with them, they need a warm home! DH is just being majorly lazy about making one for me!

I do have a heated throw arriving tomorrow though, so maybe I can reduce down to 2 layers :rotfl:

Crikey that's a he!l of a lot for sure, lexbubbles, and you with all your heating problems (make that expense!) too!!!! Surely a convector heater would be far less expensive, though that heated throw sounds like a good buy, so enjoy it! :heartpuls

Well spotted and potted again, Kerry! :D Keep on the look out - as though you need telling!

Great news about the duvet, 32b3, great potting 'n all!!! :j

You're getting into the SPC habit well, wealthygirl, best to hold onto it until you're sure. ;) Always a down side to getting youngsters warm beds! :D

    Well done, Vicky, keep going!

I've declared my total (finally - apologies) on spc8. I'm repotting £6.36 of it to start this years pot off in a healthy fashion.

    Nighty night all

    Xx

No apologies necessary, Observer, it's all sorted out over on SPC 8, well done! Well saved with the £6.36 too, a good start to the year. :D
Duly noted, Sue :). Thanks also for your message and for updating my total - it's the first time for many years I've had Christmas covered before the event, it's a great feeling. Strangely enough, I don't really want to spend the money now :rotfl:.

Those words are such a pleasure to read, peaceandfreedom, they will be giving plenty of motivaion to all SPCers too!! :j:T Hang on to the money until you're sure about the spends! Enjoy it. :D

Brilliant news, jakes-mum, such a relief for you too!! :jAh, (re Christmas celebrating) but there's celebrating and preparational excitement and I assumed you were talking about the latter, silly me! :( What's up with your DH, make him get a shift on as...Sue said so! That'll give him a laugh - me 'n all!! :rotfl:
:xmassmile Sleep well, Potters....have a super-saving Tuesday with your pots in mind!!

No, I have 2 convector heaters and they are incredibly expensive to run. A 2kwh heater costs 24p per hour to run, and they're only suitable for small rooms/occasional use. Putting on the convector heaters and/or the oil radiator (also 2kw) is what gave me a £300 bill in 3 months last year. If I stuck all three of them in the living room on at the same time I could probably heat it in a few hours but even that is £2.16 a day (3hr) / £64.80 a month (and it wouldn't *stay* heated for very long once I turned them off)

Any form of portable electric heating is prohibitively expensive. It doesn't matter whether it's convector, oil radiator, or whatever. A 2kw heater is a 2kw heater. They aren't suitable as a primary source of heating. (Directional heaters like fan heaters are *marginally* better because although they use the same amount of energy, they do a better job of heating you rather than trying in vain to heat the surrounding air)

In contrast a heated throw is 0.2kwh (1/10th of the price to run) and I can just heat me.

Heating me all day = 58p (that's for 24 hours - LITERALLY all day so a high estimate)

Running just one convector heater for 3 hours = 72p

  • Morning Everyone.... :)

Well my Cold is a lot better....I think it's coming towards the end now....which is good!! And I got a really good night's sleep last night so I can't complain.... :D

This morning I Potted what was left from my Shopping last night...which was £2.70....so I'm very pleased with that....That will be it until I next go Shopping again on Thursday....But I already feel like I'm doing well, I reckon next Christmas (2016) there will be an even bigger Total saved than this Year!! :D:D:D

*Hugs* to anyone that needs them and I hope you are all managing to stay warm (especially you lexbubbles)....xXx :)
  • Good news that your cold is easing, Helen:T

Well done to all money-savers:beer:. I'm lagging behind (as usual) but will try harder, honest.

Got as far as finding a huge lidded container in the shed so already saved a bit on not having to buy anything suitable:j. Have transferred my original haul into it before I sealed it up (too many coppers to bother posting through the slot ;)) but they didn't even cover the bottom.

Had to smile when I was shopping in the market yesterday as the stallholder was struggling for change and apologised as she asked if I minded having my change all in small coins:rotfl:. All except the 50p coins safely potted now:T.
  • Thanks carbootcrazy hun...You are NOT lagging behind...Everyone Saves at their own Rate.....I'll never be able to get to the dizzy heights that some people get to on this Thread but as long as I can cover Christmas next Year with this Money that I'm saving now then I'll be happy....

You can only do what you can do hun....Take it easy xXx :)
