I've potted what I think is the last for this year.

One of the new £5 notes and 50p which is exactly the amount which is exactly was left in my holding pot.

My next challenge is to try not to open the pot as soon as it passes midnight but to do it when I wake up in the morning.

I don't have a new pot yet - looked in the pound shops but all they had were ones for children, or ones showing coins or notes. I might use my holding purse until I get one I like. It will be a pity to have to break open the one that I have but needs must and all that.

  • I'm so excited to count up tomorrow! I must go and grab some bags tonight if possible! This year is going to be a complete surprise and i hate it hahaha. All i know is what i have saved in my VSP which i count towards this challenge anyway.

Is this the first year for a while we've not had to start a new thread part way through the years as ours has gotten too big?

Sue do you need any help on the reminder threads this year?

  • Hello everyone, what a year it's been for me, excited to be counting the money in the next few days, and kids are also excited too.

Since June I have been poorly and following an operation and medication a few months ago, I have now just had my 2nd operation a hysterectomy, as I am now in a long recovery process I think that counting the money will cheer me up. I know that I won't be able to even pick up the pots, but hopefully will be able to enjoy counting.

It's been such a long time since I posted, however we did two car boots in May, and all the money raised has been kept alongside my pots, hubby has really got into the potting, most nights putting his spare coins and change into pots. Kids as usual seem to find coins and always let me know that they have put in.

Anyway, have no idea on total, and with not being at work to recover at the moment the saved money will help to have a lovely Christmas

    Xx

Been to the bank today to get my bags, so im all ready to go :T :T DH tried to get me to open them today  bad DH, he got told noooooooooo. I shall be wolfing down my brekkie tomorrow before locking the front door and getting the tin opener out. Even told DH's uncle that he was NOT to come round till the afternoon unless he wanted me to shout at him. DH said to him 'its her favourite day of the year, just dont go there, you dont get in the way of pot opening day!'

Hello there ETO! :hello: It's wonderful to see you back with us. Not great to see that you've got so much more in debt but if you're going back to work then hopefully it will gradually start to rise even though you're on a reduced wage. The challenge of reducing your debt will take time but keep a firm hold on your spending reigns and it all helps. Savings wise let's hope a fresh start will see you having chance to gradually pot some aside in safety.
How's your DH and those 2 little treasures of yours?! :A:A Chin up ETO!! :D
    Hi all
I'm going to have to declare now as I'm terrified of forgetting about it tomorrow

    #181 £570

That's quite alright, Charlie200, I'd just as soon have some members declare now - why not! Congratulations on a fantastic amount potted, you've really done yourself proud!!!!! :j:T:j

CHOCOLATE.....TMD??! You're never serious!! I take it you are, but why not try and make only Saturdays and Sundays as chocolate days?! I have absolutely no idea what SAHM means, but I'm so pleased you're happy with all you've potted!!! Very well done indeed and do all you can to hopefully double it next year!!!:T:dance:

Great potting Frogletina though you're the first one to say they've actually potted a new £5er, tothers all want to save them; I really don't see any point but if they're happy then so be it. BTW, you do realise you'll have hurt a lot of feelings by saying that the pots were for kiddies! No doubt most of our family members use them!!! :rotfl:
Is this the first year for a while we've not had to start a new thread part way through the years as ours has gotten too big?

Sue do you need any help on the reminder threads this year?

    x

Getting unbelievably close now eh, Ruth! Not long before our hands wreak of money and we're furiously scrubbing it off!!! In response to your question: this is about the third year we've not had to start another thread part way through - it seems as though some folk have other things to do rather than chat about their cash!! :(BTW Yes please, I'll be very glad of more help on the reminder thread, for now though there's only the one which is on the main DFW forum, I might still put one on the Challenges part but I don't want to confuse folk, especially when Friday comes with 3 different SPC threads on there! I'll give it some thought. Thanks Ruth! :D

Ooooh TheMillions, you've clearly had a rotten time and for so long too!! :( Getting over the hysterectomy, especially your second op, will have you traveling along a long recovery road, but be patient and kind to yourself and you'll get there! :grinheartStill, for now counting all your potted cash will be good therapy in the short term. Very well done with the money netted from the car boot sales, and at least you've got hubby involved with it all. I found it makes a huge difference to have mine on board. See you soon with your cash, and take great care of yourself!!!!!!

Hi again Fiasco and YAY!!!! :j:T:j Congratulations to you, no wonder you're over the moon with your savings, you've potted so incredibly well and I can easily imagine how delighted you are!!!! :D

OK, mrs-moneypenny, I'll look forward to seeing you back with a HUGE smile on your face tomorrow evening! :D

That doesn't surprise me one little bit, jakes-mum, in fact I knew it, I just wanted others too get an image in their heads, albeit not a good one, but....! :rotfl: A brilliant footnote for folks to think on by the way!
Thrlling hours, Potters!! :jJust hours left!

Evening all my lovely potters! Hope you're pots are full and bring you a little stress free spending! ;)

    #083 declaring £54.

Which should be just enough money to pay for a real :xmastree: this year. :rudolf:

Thinking of ways to increase my pot next year, most of the shopping is paid for on the Amex now (to help earn air miles) so perhaps I might have a virtual sealed pot running alongside my normal pot. ;)
Saving for Disney again, oops why book one Disney holiday when you can book two!
