  • Just realised that pot opening day is the 3rd and not the 5th Nov  Don't know why I thought it was the 5th. I need to get some money bags from the Halifax tomorrow in readiness. I already opened a pot a few months ago and banked £190, so looking forward to counting up my new pot on Thursday :). I'll be using the cash for Xmas pressies.

    Happy counting everyone :j

Another £2.81 today! Less than a week to go :)
  • Oh dear oh dear oh dear. It's been a long time since I've checked in, I quite feel like I've been neglecting my MSE time!

Been in my mind that the opening is this week, since I completed my penny way on in the year and I had targeted doing it twice, it kind of fell by the wayside.

What I did do instead was decide to save every coin apart from the £1 coin. 50p and £2 were quite late to the party but I've been poooing them in a tin as I get them, and I have separate jars for the other coins so they're easier to count up. We banked £37 earlier in the year doing this so That will be added to the total. We actually go away to Copenhagen on 3rd so will be packing and counting as this week allows! I may try and bank it on our way depending if we pass somewhere with a handy branch on the bank but we'd probably get the 5 bags at a time. Wonder if the airport would mind us using all coins for lunch lol.

It's been a sad month here, last Christmas DH said there was 2 in the house that wouldn't make it to Christmas this year. One was the dog that, as you know, we lost earlier this year, and 2 weeks ago DH granny passed away. That was the 2 he was talking about. It's made me have a long think about next year and things were going to do, people were going to visit, and places were going. Life's too short.....

Well, after reading through and getting quite jealous, I'll be joining the party for the next period if you all don't mind! Will there be a new thread?
  • Hope everyone's doing great. Didn't read most of the posts.

Haven't been posting that much lately on MSE, though I still have the pot unopened and feeding it as and when I remember. Just realised it is already a year  and time to declare. Will do it sometime this week. Doubt it will be as much as last year :(.

Next year is going to be difficult, as we have plans to migrate back to Germany. Is anyone here doing the sealed pot challenge in any other currencies? I would love to be put under "pressure" to do this challenge :j

  • Number 502 reporting in! £470 saved, which was a combined pot with my "Save a pound a day" one. £470 that I never missed and is very welcome as Christmas approaches :)
    Save £12k in 2022 thread #7:

    Save £10,000 Jan-May 2022 THEN RETIRE!!
Final total for (half) year: -£4,000
  • Wow, everyone is doing so well and the excitement is building! Welcome to any newbies too, you'll be ready and waiting to start off again for next year :) Lovely Sue will sort you out as soon as she is able.

Sue, I'm declaring early too as I'm going Christmas shopping with DD and lovely GD (she has another week before back at school) on Wednesday so I've opened my pot and counted up £47.50 cash plus my £25 premium bond win so.....

    SPC member # 70 Total £72.50

That should be enough for a few gifts from my list.

Thank you so much for running the thread again, Sue, as I know it's very time consuming :kisses3: Please count me in again for next time, I've started it off with £1 saved by walking a short distance and saving on the parking :)

    Good luck everyone!!
