Thanks for the news about your gran B17c. I'm sure you'll be as supportive as you can of your mum and eating/keeping healthy will help:).

    Hi Maman
I had a small dinner party on Saturday night arranged weeks ago. I cooked tasty non SW food, including a very high syn dessert with cream. Me and hubby had the leftovers on Sunday and had a sweet tea.
I'm one of these people 'when I'm good I'm very very good and when I'm bad I lose control'

Monday was on plan, yesterday too many syns to count.

Today - Brunch - 2 egg omlette with bacon/onion, mushy peas

Tea - Mayflower curry with dried noodles and mushy peas
    Dessert - jelly and fruit

syns - not had any yet
    HEB - not had yet
    HEA - Milk

Oh well, the dinner party's behind you now so just draw a line and move on. For the future it's very possible to cook some super meals for sharing which are either syn free or very low syn. I tend to do casseroles (like beef in red wine) as that gives me more time with guests and hearty food always goes down well especially with men;). My favourite pudding is to put all the ingredients out for Eton mess but with 0% yogurt as well as cream or you can do a cheese board with grapes (not Speed) and celery. Then if you want to stay on plan yourself you just pick out the low syn bits.

Peas are not Speed but Protein so don't count towards your 1/3. You should try to have more Speed foods other than just the onions and frozen berries. The plan will work without the 1/3 Speed but works far better if you can increase the level.

Denise is absolutely right but I think you might have got away with it today because it doesn't look as if you've had any meat. That means you have followed the Green plan and the Speed isn't so essential but although it works it's better with Speed (clue's in the name;)).

Well I've had a really good week including a couple of SP days so hoping to get that loss which will put me back into target range and not have to pay:D.

Today will be EE as usual:

    B - melon - after WI
    L - ham & mushroom omlette
D - pork chop, mash, green beans & peas

    HEA - 300ml 1% milk
    HEB - Ryvita & garlic/herb flavoured Quark

Syns - not sure yet but may have a couple of glasses of wine if DH fancies some too

I've done my shopping list so will pick up fruit, veg & Quark as well as the usual bread, milk etc. Have plenty of meat in the freezer which needs using up as well as some HM ready meals.

Have really enjoyed have sweetened Quark with fruit for pud this week, as well as jelly. Have decided it's going on the shopping list each week for the foreseeable future! It's useful for both desserts & spreads/dips.

Back later with result of WI.

Morning everyone, +0.5 for me, not sure how that's happened. I've skipped a couple of HeB's this week but wouldn't have thought that would make me gain??

Well done to the losers, hugs to the gainers! X

  • Hello all, I'm back again. You may remember a few weeks ago my dad was in and out of hospital. He was subsequently sent home to be cared for and died last Monday. I briefly got under 12 stone, but with the stress of arrangements and not having the time or inclination to cook anything nutritious has put me back up to 12.1 this week. The funeral was yesterday though so no more excuses now, I need to stay away from the biscuit aisle as the last thing I want is to end up back where I started (and SW and healthy cooking will give me something to focus on).

I'd like to belatedly join in with the challenge please
    - there's just over five weeks left, and I'm going to aim for 11 and a half stone, so a target loss of 8lbs.

I need to do a bit of a freezer inventory and go shopping, but thinking lunch may be salmon with stir fried courgette and mushroom. I'm going to the cinema tonight and I think we're going to Nando's beforehand - any suggestions for the most SW friendly thing to have there? :o

  • Morning everyone! Had a sneaky peek on the scales this morning and I'm still the same as I was on last weigh in day, so need to commit a bit more for the rest of the week I think!

Has anyone any thoughts on water intake affecting weight loss? I don't drink much water at all, maybe a couple of glasses of squash a day. The rest of my drinks tend to be pepsi max!

Going to try Shala's chipotle chicken today, but going to sub the ketchup for tomato puree to reduce the syns a bit more.

    Menu today:

    B- Clementine, activia
    L - Subway salad (1.5)
    S - Kitkat (5.5), banana
D - Chipotle chicken (0.5) wholemeal roll (heb), salad, dressing (0.5), ff greek yoghurt, frozen berries
    E - popcorn?, jelly?
  • Welcome back Tete. Sorry to hear about your dad.

I went to nandos a few weeks ago. I had the chicken butterfly (3 syns), corn on the cob (free, but syn any butter) and a regular spicy rice (2 syns). No speed food in there but you could get salad as well I suppose if you're being really good!

Burgers and pitta bread burgers are around 18 syns a piece and don't be fooled by the veggie burgers. They are 26.5 syns!

This is one of my problems. All I drink is pepsi max! I really need to start drinking some squash. I can't drink just water (only flavoured). A habit I need to loose!

Today should be ok. Was ment to be going out for lunch today with friends but cancelled as I have loads to do before work and really don't wanna fall off the sw wagon.

Meal plan will be something like this.

    Breakfast: Fruit

    Lunch: Jacket potato with beans

Tea/Supper (working late shift): Thin (HEB) Cheese (HEA) with chicken and red onion

Snacks: Hi-Fi bar (3 syns), fruit, beetroot and pickles.

    CP xx

EDIT to ask.... Is my plan an EE day or a green day because of lack of meat (apart from tiny bit of chicken, lol). Really need to get my head around it!

  • Oooh thank you Musogirl - not as bad as I thought and the butterfly chicken and corn on the cob are what I'd have anyway. I would have considered a salad if it was free like at Pizza Hut but not if I have to pay extra for it! :o

Morning everyone! Today's plan is still technically SP but I'm not feeling that great (DH brought the dreaded commuter's cold home) so if it's not exactly 50/50, I'm not too worried.

Breakfast - Spinach omelette and satsuma
Lunch - Red pepper and butterbean soup, cheesy garlic ciabatta (HEA+HEB)
Dinner - Beef stew with swede mash
    Syns - Something for pudding

May also have a cheeky banana and just count it in the "occasional treat" column of SP rather than call it an EE day. Although if I don't fancy my second HEB, may just call it EE anyway.

musogirl - Definitely try upping your water intake. Add a bit of NAS squash if you need some flavour. Bodies are mostly water so if you're not getting enough, it may try to hold on to what's there which will mask any weight loss.

Tete - Sorry about your dad, hugs! Agree with musogirl, butterfly chicken is the best option at Nando's. I have it with a large mixed salad, but you could have the small salad and then the rice or corn.

B17c - Your gain may purely be down to stress if you've stuck to plan. Try not to worry about it!
