I use 1% milk all the time in the UK and I can't tell the difference between that and semi skimmed. I would happily use skimmed milk, but DH hates it, however he is fine with 1%. We sell milk in the shop but we're unable to get 1% from our supplier, so I mix skimmed with semi skimmed, half and half. We always have 2 bottles on the go anyway - one at home and one in the shop, so it works well for us.

June, maybe the store will cotton on and order extra quark if they keep selling out. I wonder if it's worth saying something to Customer Services. The cynic in me says it won't make the blindest bit of difference but it has to worth a try.
Did you make your own fishcakes? If so, do you have a recipe? I've had a tin of salmon in the cupboard for what seems like years which I thought I might use up. And I've got some assorted fish bits in the freezer I'd like shot of but I'm not a fish pie fan as it's a bit sloppy for me.0 -

I just add it to my online order. There always seems to be plenty in the big town, just not here! You'd think they would have cottoned on by now as it's literally the only thing in the whole cheese aisle that sells out. But no such luck yet.
Yup, I made the fishcakes. Didn't really follow a recipe, just took equal parts of tinned salmon and butternut squash. Microwaved the squash until it was soft, then mashed the two together and added some spices plus a small egg to bind. It was quite a wet mixture, may have been better to roast the squash to dry it out a bit but I wasn't switching the oven on just for that! Shaped into patties and fried in a bit of frylight. They were quite fragile, but good enough for just me for lunch.
You could use a HEB for breadcrumbs if you want, but I really wanted my toast. :rotfl:0 -
STS again for me this week please0

Hello all, wow been missing since the weekend it's taken me ages to catch up on the thread!! Slowly returning to the land of the living, my appetite came back with a venegance today!!
Interesting to see the chat about the syns in celebrations and roses, they are so dangerous at this time of year!! I bought my team some treats at the weekend and ended up nibbling a malteasers reindeer...how bad could it be, thought I? 8 syns!!!! You get a whole toffee crisp for 9.5!!! They're getting apples and bananas this week!!!!
Today is my first day back on plan properly, I haven't really been eating much. Weetabix with milk (hexa/b), quorn chicken slice and low fat soft cheese toasted sandwich (8 syns) for lunch and pondering what to have for dinner, probably either a baked spud with beans and loads of veg or a pasta bake with salad / veg.
Gonna try and cook up a massive batch of soup, pasta sauce and quorn chilli to shove in the freezer over the weekend, make things a bit easier for myself. Was going to nip the shops today but it's blowing a gale out there!! Hope you are all safely tucked up and have tied your trampolines down!!!!! xxxx0 -
A horrible week for me this week and a 2.5lb gain
All my own doing though so it's thoroughly deserved. The dreaded time of the month got me big time this week, hoping for a better week coming up now that I'm no longer hormonal and craving everything under the sunGiving myself a big kick up the bum and hoping for a loss next week
Well done all you losers this week :T and big hugs fellow gainers.
Incredibly envious of you june not craving chocolate - it seemed to be all I thought about last week! I really need to wean myself off the snacky stuff I think - crisps and chocolate tend to send me off on a binge which is just what I want to avoid. Maybe I need to start using my syns differently - I might dig my SW book out and try some new things this week and see if it makes a difference.0 -
Hi all
Sorry not been around and just done a huge catch up.
beg glad to hear your mum is on the mend. Hopefully she will not be in the hospital much longer.
Lois being in spain certainly sounds like it has more than one advantage when it come to xmas. Good weather and no temptation by xmas foods - sounds great.
denise sorry for your gain especially when you are not expecting it. hopefully it will disappear just as quickly.
Hello to the newbies and congrats to all who have lost - there has been some great losses this week.
Hugs to those who need them.
I managed a STS this week. Bit of a shame really as I had two losses the weeks before. just need to keep my head down and keep plodding but have been good yesterday and today (so far).
The weekends tend to be my downfall so will need to plan for it this week. Swapping my wine for vodka this week so hopefully that will help.0 -
Oh dear, that's quite a shock_pale_. I certainly didn't see that coming. I can't see that you'll find anything out from a food diary but it's nice of the consultant to offer. Probably just a blip, it can happen. Hopefully it will disappear ASAP.
Let us know how you get on with the 1%, I think have bought it before (isn't it the purple top one?) but I don't think they have it in Aldi. It'd definitely be worth it for an extra 50 ml or more likely to be able to spare some cheese on pasta or a cottage pie and still be in one HEA.
Certainly was a big shock - hope it is just a blip but going to be a bit more careful this week!
I've tried the 1%, it's better than skimmed but wouldn't say it tastes like semi-skimmed. It used to be in a purple top but is now more of an orangy colour. I think milk is probably one of the things I use more than the specified 250ml (haven't bothered measuring for yonks!) Have measured the 300ml for today and have used most of it.

Thanks MI and Maman! I still haven't caught up, just woke up and have to get ready for work but from tomorrow at 7am it's my weekend so I'll catch up then! I got my 1/2 stone sticker and SOTW too
very pleased!
Maman, A typical days menu for me is:
Batch cooked diced chicken with a stock pot or oxo cube crumbled in with carrot and swede mashed together and broccoli, I usually have 5 or 6 small lunch boxes worth so I take them to work or have one for 'breakfast' when I get home at 8am! Or I'll have bacon medallions (extra lean), mushroom, tomatoes and beans when I get in.
HeA is usually milk in tea and/or 1x 35g tub Philly extra light
HeB is usually 3 sesame ryvita or 2 alpen/hifi light bars
I snack on seafood sticks, tins of mackerel, prawns, mushy peas..
Syns usually go on a 175ml glass of red wine 4 days out of 7, sugar free jelly (1/2 syn per serving) or on extra hifi/alpen bars. Usually have 1 to 2 mullerlights a day.
I love chocolate but try to avoid it coz I'd munch all day! I sometimes make potato salad and have it with pork steaks or a steak or something, I eat a lot of meat and fish! I can't really eat pasta or jacket potatoes or much bread due to my IBS.
Well done to all the other losers! Hugs and congrats in equal measures to all that needs them! :T :grouphug:Credit Card Debt:[STRIKE]£12991[/STRIKE] £12526

Sorry I didn't check in yesterday, was on the go but stuck to plan.
I've been doing mostly SP days still, but I'm taking the advice of the book of adding in a free yoghurt or extra HEA choice for calcium, at least on the days I don't have any Quark. Which is today, since yet again my local store is sold out. I've never seen anything in the space where it should be, I think whoever buys it must take the packing tray and all. :rotfl:
Breakfast - Spinach omelette, green tea
Lunch - SP fish cakes, avocado toast and tomatoes (3.5 syns + HEB1)
Dinner - Leftover lamb stew, swede and carrot mash
Snacks - Yoghurt, apple and cheese (HEA)
HEB2 will be pudding. Haven't decided what yet, think it might be Weetabix. Have been craving them but not for breakfast!
I've been finding that I've really gone off chocolate this week. Hence adding in the avocado, as I'm struggling to reach syns without that. Except for my PMS day, that was a full 15 syns of chocolate!
How much avocado are you having for 3.5 syns? IIRC it's 14 syns for a whole one! I wouldn't have thought 1/4 of an avacado would be enough! I would want at least half if I was having some.
