Yes that's fine Shala_Moo! I feel famous lol, hope other people enjoy it as much as I did.

Best of luck to everyone who is struggling. I know it can be very tough at times.

I'm a bit nervous that everything is going to go to pot after my next counselling session. I usually end up binging as I comfort eat and give myself a free pass to do whatever makes me feel good in the moment. I'm trying to make a plan in advance. I usually go to a cafe and have one of those special coffees with a fattening dessert or meal - last week I had a huge roast beef and onion toastie with coleslaw, a large mocha and a millionaires shortbread for example.

There is a Subway on the same street as the place I go to so I thought I could get a turkey and ham salad without dressing, use my HeA milk allowance for a skinny coffee and take a chocolate bar (possibly a Galaxy Ripple for 9 syns) to have with it. That way I'll feel like I've had a treat... What do you all think? As I said in my first post, for a long time food has been the only thing which made me feel happy albeit only temporalily. I feel if I could overcome comfort eating I wouldn't have any problems with my weight. Any tips would be gratefully received if those on here have managed to stop comfort eating.

I think that sounds like a really good approach :) We all know comfort eating isn't healthy, but treating yourself sometimes is very healthy IMO, as long as you find a sensible & controlled way of doing it - sounds to me like you've done just that!

I agree. You're right to have a plan missindependent. If you think you'd enjoy Subway then that's fine. Personally I'd go to Pret a Manger for a Salad Nicoise and a coffee or hunt out somewhere that did jackets. Or you could save up syns until then and have a more indulgent meal. What matters is that you really enjoy the syns you use. Alternatively why not book something like a hair do or a massage or a manicure (and take the chocolate bar along too;)).

Thanks Rebster and Maman. Yes, I'm just trying to find ways of damage limitation!

Unfortunately Maman I am in a small town so no Pret here. I like your idea though of finding a non-food treat to make myself feel better. I don't have enough money to get my hair or nails done professionally but I could say, buy a face mask or new nail polish or one of those colouring books for adults. Maybe I should designate my after counselling time as a "spoil myself night". I never would have thought of that before! Thank you :T

Wow, thanks meg.. So easy to eat a handful of these whilst out visiting/watching tv, it'd be 20 odd syns before you knew it!

    Morning,

I was offered Quality Street 3 times yesterday and turned them down 3 times ;) Very glad I did.

Its that time of year when chocs will start to be everywhere and its too easy to eat a couple of those things and deplete your daily syns without realising or even taking the time to enjoy them and then you sort of write them off and it becomes a vicious cycle.

Daisy that's sounds yuck, hope you and Dillion feel better soon!

Miss Independent, I haven't completely knocked the comfort eating on the head but a lot of the time I will ask myself why I really want it and how I will feel after eating it. Is it going to achieve anything eating it etc. Usually this stops me.

The Sweet Onion Sauce in Subway and the Light Mayo are low in Syns and you can always ask them to only put on a little if you do fancy some sort of dressing.

Why not buy yourself a fancy new mug and have a nice coffee at home or options hot choc and watch something you've been saving with a nice bar of choc. Wouldn't cost any more than the cost of a coffee out. Or you could make yourself a low syn dinner that you really fancy. I do this sometimes when I feel like a treat and being naughty and then its not so naughty really and feel better after I would have done if I had gotten the takeaway / meal out etc.
