Had a weird day yesterday as town was cut in half due to the bridge being closed.
Instead of half an hour to go to med centre to get prescription, then over the bridge to get it made up at chemist, then take parcels to post office - it took three hours as the shuttle bus had to go right out of down and circle it.
Finally got home and had a bread roll and smoked salmon (er two)
CBA cooking a meal so had two SW burgers in another two rolls.
Phone call from DDs around six saying they had heard the bridge had collapsed and was I OK . I had no sooner put the phone down then the lights went out. Checked the circuit boards and they seemed fine, looked outside and it was a power cut. The bridges partial collapse seemed to have fractured a gas pipe.
Managed to find my way safely upstairs and get onto bed with a torch and a book. Power came back in less than an hour. I then got a call from DD and SIL saying they had heard people were being evacuated to sleep in the grammar school so were taking me home with them if I was in any danger of evacuation.
After reassuring them I was fine they went out to find what the evacuation zone was and returned to say I was safe. We then found the gas was cut off.
I had a glass of wine and a small fudge bar and a small chomp etc etc.Shudder to think how many syns I scoffed . Someone tell me it was understandable.:o"This site is addictive!"

elona - I think I would have scoffed the entire contents of my cupboards if that was going on here! Stay safe!:eek:0

Glad you are ok Elona. I'm up in Yorkshire but at the top of the hills - storm just starting to hit and it's horrendous outside. It's going to take months for all this to be put back to normal so let's hope that there are no more storms pending.
I've been to class and have +1/2LB not bad really considering it's been Christmas.
Hubby birthday tonight and we are going to have a takeout curry, as long as we can get down to village, so looking forwards to that and then tomorrow we are gathering at a friends for new year but apart from the tipples it will be v SW as she is roasting a ham and I'm taking a seven layer salad. Others are taking desserts but I can leave those alone.
6 weeks until we go off to Tenerife so I will be getting on with it straight after new year and aiming to make my target before I go (10 lbs)
If I don't get back on the boards, happy new year, hope it is a safe and healthy one for everyone.0 -
Good morning! Weather has turned horrible again after a nice couple of days, although we're getting off pretty lightly down here on the south coast all things considered. Feeling for anyone up north!elona - I think I would have scoffed the entire contents of my cupboards if that was going on here! Stay safe!
I'm on South Coast too so nothing more than bit wild and windy here. I think what matters is that you're safe elona. Do keep posting just so that we know you're OK but don't worry about SW that can wait. Just do what you can.:)
Yesterday's lunch with nephew was good but I must have had a fair few syns. The meal itself was fine (cold meat, salads, pickles etc.) but then I attacked the cheeseboard (manchego:drool:) and had Christmas pudding all washed down with copious wine syns:o.
Plan is now to have a nice meal on NYE but otherwise back on SW. Realistically that's from Monday proper as I always have fairly high syn weekends and I'm determined to finish off the last of Christmas pudding. I think I'll be able to feed DH all the other goodies through January;). I'm trying to put off shopping for a day or two so eating what's available in freezer and cupboards at the moment.
Rough menu plan for today:
B: NAS Grapefruit, baked beans, bacon, HEB toast
L: JP?probably burger, chips, tomatoes, onions, peas
Syns: not sure but maybe wine syns and/or chocolate liqueur0 -
I just went downstairs and the central heating and boiler seem to be ok and the gas hob is working.
I found an LED torch which is rechargable and have plugged it in so I will always have a working torch close to hand.
Think I must have polished off 100 syns or more "This site is addictive!"
